! With much sadness and a lonely heart we will try to write an obituary of a dear sweet and
loving mother and sister to wit, «b»Delilah Hall«/b». She was so precious to us. She was born February
23, 1924 and departed this life October 23, 1981 making her stay on this earth 57 years and 8
months. She was married to «b»Willard Hall«/b», July 9, 1943. He preceded her in death, October 22,
1951. To this union was born 5 children, 3 sons and 2 daughters. One infant son preceded her in
death, May 31, 1951 and she was blessed to raise 4 of her 5 children, «b»Leon Hall «/b»of Virgie,
Kentucky, «b»Charles E. Hall «/b»of Huntington, Indiana, «b»Nancy Sue Easterday«/b», Wabash, Indiana and
«b»Pearl Smith «/b»of Huntington, Indiana.
! She had 13 grandchildren, 8 grandsons and 5 granddaughters. She was a widow for 30 years
and worked so hard to raise her children, and I believe with all my heart that she is resting today
from all her labors. She was the daughter of «b»Taulby Tackett and Roxie Johnson Tackett«/b». Her
father and mother preceded her in death.
! She also leaves to mourn her loss, three brothers, «b»Ireland Tackett, Elzie Tackett and Lee
Tackett «/b»all of Virgie, Kentucky and two sisters, «b»Flossie Johnson «/b»of Huntington, Indiana, and
«b»Minnadel Caudill «/b»of Hi Hat, Kentucky.
! Sister «b»Delilah «/b»loved and attended the Old Regular Baptist church, she loved to be around
the family of God. She told me just before she had the first stroke that she had been dreaming of
Brother «b»Monroe Jones «/b»and Brother «b»Perry Jones «/b»baptizing her and she told me a wonderful
experience, even though she never did attach herself to the church, I believe with all my whole
heart, soul and mind that she is resting under the Alter of God waiting for the adoption to wit:
the redemption of her body.
! She told her children in the Hospital just before she departed this life that the Lord was
coming to get her. So I want to say to the children, if you want to see Mommie again, you will
have to go to the same Lord she did, and fall out with sin, repent and be born again. «b»Delilah «/b»is

Elzie Tackitt, age 82, passed away Sunday, September 14th, 2008 at his home. Elzie was born on January 15th, 1926 to his parents the late Taulby Tackitt and Roxie Ann Johnson Tackitt. He was the husband of the late Elsie Ray Tackett, a retired self employed miner, and a member of the Enterprise Old Regular Baptist Church. Along with his wife and parents, Elzie was preceded in death by one son, Randy Tackitt, three sisters, Delilah Hall, Minie Caudill, Flossie Johnson, and two brothers, Ireland Tackitt and Onsby Lee Tackitt. Elzie is survived by two sons, Lonnie Tackitt of Virgie, Ky., Lonzie Tackitt of Wheelwright, five daughters, Wanda Fields of Cumberland, Ky., Bonnie Ann Tackitt of Virgie, Ky., Janither Hall of Virgie, Teresa France of Dorton, Ky., Mary Lou Murphy of Virgie, Ky., sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Monday at 6p.m. at the Enterprise Old REgular Baptist Church the funeral will be Wednesday 9-17-2008 at 1p.m. at the Enterprise Old Regular Baptist Church. Bonnie Tackitt age 63, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at her home. Bonnie was born on July 21, 1950 to her parents the late Elzie Tackitt and Elsie Ray Tackitt. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pilgrim Rest Old Regular Baptist Church. Bonnie is survived by two brothers, Lonnie Tackitt, Lonzie Tackitt, four sisters, Wanda Fields, Janither Hall, Teresa France, Mary Lou Murphy, a host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends who will miss her dearly. Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Friday and Saturday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Sunday, May 18, 2014 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Jimmy Dye, Chuck Hall, James Tackett, and others officiating. While sitting here alone, if the Lord will give me the mind and strength, I will try to write a short sketch of the life of my loving husband, Berry Tackett. He was the son of Andy and Hannah Tackett. He was born April 29, 1910. He died April 28, 1964, liked one day being 54 years old when sweet Jesus sent and took him home to live with his daddy that left him in 1949. He was first married to Elvie Hamilton in July 1928. To this union was born 6 children, 4 daughters and 2 sons. His companion and one daughter preceded him in death. Then he was married the second time to Mahala Tackett in July, 1942. Unto this union was born 3 children, 2 sons and 1 daughter, which the Lord loved our baby better than we did and took it when it was only 3 weeks old. So I be-lieve that Berry is resting with the rest of the family that God has taken away from us. He leaves a lonesome wife, 3 girls, 4 boys, a sweet mother and 23 grandchildren, also a host of friends to mourn with us. Berry loved every body. While he was in the hospital he had so m a n y visitors, the nurses said he had more friends than anybody. Berry didn't belong to the church, but he loved the Baptist family. We always went to church. We loved to go to church. It Was for a while before Berry took sick that he worked so hard that he wanted to stay at home and rest. But still he would talk about not going to church. He told me and his mother not long before he died that he would like for the good Lord to let him live long enough to tell the people what he had done for him. He said with his sweet trembling voice that he had a better home to go to. He told his mother that him and her was standing on a little platform and a ladder to it and one of the others had to climb that ladder. So I feel like that sweet Jesus sent one of his Angels to climb the ladder with him. He loved his family so much that he wanted them to stay around him where he could see them at all times. He would say it done him good for any of us to have our hands on him. He had so much faith he wanted some of the good people to stay with him so they could put their hands.. on him and try on him. Seems like it would give him ease. He enjoyed people coming in and talking with him. Old brother Jerry Hall and some of the other good people stayed Sunday and Monday night with him. Jerry got up at mid night and started home. He looked up at Jerry and said with a very weak voice, Jerry if you leave me I, will be dead before daylight. So Jerry stayed with him. He hated to leave his his family so bad on Monday night before he died he called all his children and talked to them he told them he was going to Heaven and for them not to put it off to late to live right. I was standing at his back with my hands on his head he looked up at me and said to me, my sweet wife will you meet me in Heaven? I told him yes I don't feel like there is anything in between me and my Lord and I believe me and Berry will live together again. We did everything that we could do for him. All the children were good to stay and did every thing that their daddy wanted them to do. I stood by him and held to his hand just as long as I could stand it. It was hard to do but I knew that was what he wanted the last word I could under-stand him. He was trying to call my name. He would say my sweet mother. She stayed with him day and night. There are a lot of good things to say but I want to say Mother and dear sweet children we can't stand by and fan daddy any more, but we can live a good Christian life and live for the Lord. Then when we leave here we can live with Daddy where we will never be hungry for God is the same yesterday, today, and forever and Chaugheth nat. May I close his obituary by quoting here a poem which seems so fitting and appropriate to our memory of the sweetest husband and Daddy of all.

Lexie Tackett Hampton, 90, of, Marshalls Branch of Long Fork, Virgie, died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 3, 1916, a daughter of the late William and Isabella Tackett.
She was a member of the Long Fork Old Regular Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Forest Hampton; one brother Ishmael Tackett; and one sister, Bessie Tackett.
She is survived by seven sons, Forest Hampton Jr. of Elyria, Ohio, Elder Gary Hampton of Robinson Creek, Julius Hampton, Juble Hampton, Larry Hampton, David Hampton and Ronnie Hampton, all of Long Fork; five daughters, Shirley Johnson of Long Fork, Norene Johnson of Elyria, Lois Roemer of Latham, N.Y., Gaye Johnson of Taylor, Mich., and Sheila Edmonds of Caney; three sisters, Esta Elswick, Draxie Elswick and Vada Burke, all of Long Fork; 27 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 11, in the Long Fork Old Regular Baptist Church with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Eli Elswick Cemetery, Marshalls Branch. Arrangements are under direction of Hall & Jones Funeral Home of Virgie

It is with much sadness we try to write the obituary of our beloved husband, dad and brother. Dad was born on March 9, 1915 to the late Pleasant and Arlena (Tackett) Hampton. He fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on October 5, 1995 making his stay on earth 80 years, 6 months and 26 days. As a young man he fell in love with Lexie (Tackett) Hampton and they were united in marriage on February 17, 1938. To this union were born 12 children, seven boys: Forest Jr. of Elyria Ohio; Julius, Juble, Larry, David and Ronnie, all of Long Fork; and Gary of Robinson Creek Ky.; five daughters: Shirley Johnson of Marshall's Branch; Norene Johnson of Elyria OH.; Lois Roemer of Greenlawn NY; Gay Johnson of Taylor MI.; and Sheila Edmonds of Caney Creek, Ky. He also leaves 27 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Hassell of River Rouge MI, and Joseph Hampton of Marshall's Branch. He is preceded in death by three brothers: Gomer, Archie, and Cecil, and four sisters: Zeal Johnson, Lillie Mae Meadows, Madgie Tackett and Helen (Elliott) Hall. Dad was a member of the local unit of the U.M.W.A. of Wheelwright KY. Dad gave his hand to become a member of the church the fourth Saturday in June, 1993. While telling his experience, Dad said he could have joined the Church twelve years earlier. He was baptized by Elders Monroe Jones and Dewey Roberts, and took his membership to the Old Long Fork Regular Baptist Church, where he remained a faithful member until his passing. Dad, we all love and miss you, we had to say good-bye for now but only for a short while. When we meet again there will be no dialysis machines, no pain, no sorrow, no tears, and best of all no parting of our ways. We are all yet saddened by your death but feel we gained much by knowing you and having shared your love. 1940 - 2012Norene Hampton Johnson, 72, of Elyria, OH., formerly of Long Fork of Virgie, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, in Ohio.
She was born in Pike County, April 8, 1940, a daughter of the late Forest and Lexie Tackett.
She was a school teacher and of the Baptist faith.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Johnson.
She is survived by one son, Keith Johnson of Olmsted Township, OH., one daughter, Kim Oleksa of Elyria, seven brothers, Forest Hampton Jr., of Elyria, Julius Hampton, Larry Hampton, Juble Hampton, David Hampton, Ronnie Hampton and Garry Hampton, all of Virgie, four sisters, Shirley Johnson of Virgie, Lois Roemer of Latham, NY., Gaeith Johnson of Knoxville, TN., and Sheila Edmonds of Pikeville, and three grandchildren, Michael Oleksa, Rebecca Johnson and Zachery Johnson.

Eli Elswick
Eli Elswick, 88, of Long Fork, Virgie, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 6, 1917, a son of the late James and Lucretia Tackett Elswick.
He was a coal miner, a member of United Mine Workers of America, and a member of Long Fork Old Regular Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by one son, Earl Elswick; and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Esta Tackett Elswick; two sons, Ernie Elswick of Somerset and Clayton Elswick of Marion, Ohio; three daughters, Ina Burke of Marion, Patricia Damron of Little Creek, Kay Sproles of Long Fork; one brother, Tivis Elswick of Long Fork; 16 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, in the Long Fork Old Regular Baptist Church with Dewey Roberts, Mike Justice, Gale Brown, Gary Hampton, Teddy Honaker, Kermit Wright and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Elswick Cemetery, Marshalls Branch. Arrangements are under direction of Hall & Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Wednesday, at the church, with special services at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
Pallbearers are Phil Elswick, Tony Burke, Cliff Burke, Mitch Damron, Samuel Sproles, Rob McFarland, Chris Salyers, and Billy Brown.
Honorary pallbearers are Dustin Potter, Nick Elswick, Zachary Barbito, Colton Brown, Taylor McFarland, and Andrew McFarland.
