It is with much sadness we try to write the obituary of our beloved husband, dad and brother. Dad was born on March 9, 1915 to the late Pleasant and Arlena (Tackett) Hampton. He fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on October 5, 1995 making his stay on earth 80 years, 6 months and 26 days. As a young man he fell in love with Lexie (Tackett) Hampton and they were united in marriage on February 17, 1938. To this union were born 12 children, seven boys: Forest Jr. of Elyria Ohio; Julius, Juble, Larry, David and Ronnie, all of Long Fork; and Gary of Robinson Creek Ky.; five daughters: Shirley Johnson of Marshall's Branch; Norene Johnson of Elyria OH.; Lois Roemer of Greenlawn NY; Gay Johnson of Taylor MI.; and Sheila Edmonds of Caney Creek, Ky. He also leaves 27 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Hassell of River Rouge MI, and Joseph Hampton of Marshall's Branch. He is preceded in death by three brothers: Gomer, Archie, and Cecil, and four sisters: Zeal Johnson, Lillie Mae Meadows, Madgie Tackett and Helen (Elliott) Hall. Dad was a member of the local unit of the U.M.W.A. of Wheelwright KY. Dad gave his hand to become a member of the church the fourth Saturday in June, 1993. While telling his experience, Dad said he could have joined the Church twelve years earlier. He was baptized by Elders Monroe Jones and Dewey Roberts, and took his membership to the Old Long Fork Regular Baptist Church, where he remained a faithful member until his passing. Dad, we all love and miss you, we had to say good-bye for now but only for a short while. When we meet again there will be no dialysis machines, no pain, no sorrow, no tears, and best of all no parting of our ways. We are all yet saddened by your death but feel we gained much by knowing you and having shared your love. The old home will never be the same but if we will do the will of God our next reunion will be in our Heavenly home with Jesus. Written by his broken-hearted family, Lexie and children

Lexie Tackett Hampton, 90, of, Marshalls Branch of Long Fork, Virgie, died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 3, 1916, a daughter of the late William and Isabella Tackett.
She was a member of the Long Fork Old Regular Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Forest Hampton; one brother Ishmael Tackett; and one sister, Bessie Tackett.
She is survived by seven sons, Forest Hampton Jr. of Elyria, Ohio, Elder Gary Hampton of Robinson Creek, Julius Hampton, Juble Hampton, Larry Hampton, David Hampton and Ronnie Hampton, all of Long Fork; five daughters, Shirley Johnson of Long Fork, Norene Johnson of Elyria, Lois Roemer of Latham, N.Y., Gaye Johnson of Taylor, Mich., and Sheila Edmonds of Caney; three sisters, Esta Elswick, Draxie Elswick and Vada Burke, all of Long Fork; 27 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Rob Howell, 62 of Jonancy, Kentucky, died at 6:15 A.M. on February 10, in the Highlands Regional Hospital in Prestonsburg, Kentucky.
A retired merchants, he was the son of J. D. And Nancy Wright Howell.
His wife Pearl Tackett, survives. Survivors other than his wife include two brothers. Ray, of Columbus, Ohio and George of Hamdon, Ohio; Six sisters Alka Lucas of Elgin, Illinois, Maggie Stewart of McAuthor, Ohio, Tilda Isaac of Columbus, Ohio, Betty Hobson of Hamdon, Ohio and Sarah Harris and Maxie Harris also of Hamdon.
Funeral services were held February 13 at 10 A.M. in the Chaple of the R. S. Jones and Sons Funeral Home of Virgie, Kentucky, who was in charge of funeral arrangements, with Regular Baptist Officiating.
Burial was in the Amil Little Cemetery on Long Fork of Virgie, Kentucky.

Services will be 11 A.M. Sunday at Calfee Funeral Service chapel, Pineville, with Rev. Tommy Knotts officiating, Burial will follow at 3:30 P.M. at Johnson Memorial Park, Pikeville, Ky.

Funeral and burial services will be Saturday in Pikeville Ky., for Edward Newsome, 49 who died at 3:30 P.M. Wednesday at his home in Brenton following a long illness.
A native of Virgie, Ky., Newsome was a miner and had lived in Wyoming County for 17 years. He was the son of Mrs. Vangie McCray Newsome of Taylor, Mich. and the late Tavis Newsome
Other survivors include his wife, Ollie Tackett Newsome, three sons, James, Ronnie and Bobby, at home and four daughters, Mrs. Lois Walls of Chicago Ill., Mrs. Brenda Stacy of Mullensville, Mrs Carol Baker of Brenton and Miss Donna Newsome at home.

Noble E. Tackett, 82, of Virgie, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at his residence.
He was born in Huddy on Feb. 11, 1924, a son of the late Pierce and Nancy Hampton Tackett.
He was a coal miner, a member of the United Mine Workers of America, the Civilian Conservation Corps and of the Old Regular Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Tackett Tackett; his second wife, Mary Newsome Spence Tackett; three sons, Roger L. Tackett and stillborn twins; one brother, Clell Tackett; two sisters, Mary Belle Elswick and Bessie Brandenburg.
He is survived by one son, Randy L. Tackett of Virgie; two daughters, Irma Osborne of Virgie and Sharon Webb of Pikeville; two stepdaughters, Diana Spence of Virgie and Donna Spence Hoffman of Somerset; two brothers, Richard Tackett of Pikeville and Lavern Tackett of Virgie; two sisters, Barbara Slone and Leslie Mae Tackett, both of Virgie; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, in the Lucas and Son Funeral Home with Dewey Roberts, Kermit Wright, Teddy Honaker and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Noble E. Mattie Tackett, age 88, of Pikeville, Ky, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at the Pikeville Medical Center. She was born on February 15, 1926, the daughter of the late Dona and Dina Fouts Tackett. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lindy B. and Russell Tackett, by two sisters, Susie Burke and Tillie Johnson, and by three grandchildren.
Mattie was a homemaker and a long time member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by a daughter, Katherine Tackett, by four sons, Jackie Randall (Shelby, Tackett, Teddy Bruce (Sonja) Tackett, Lindy Q. Tackett, and Earl Gene (Fairy) Tackett, by two sisters, Laura Burke and Irene Gabbard, by fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and twenty great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other family that loved her and will miss her dearly.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2015, after 6 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Greg Johnson, Bill Damron and Don Roger Tackett officiating.

Joseph Burke
Joseph Burke, 67, of Long Fork of Virgie died June 17 at Pikeville Methodist Hospital.
Born February 2, 1924, he was the son of the late Epp and Nancy Elswick Burke. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Susie Burke; three sons, William Gordon Burke of Galion, Ohio, Ernest and Gary Epp Burke, both of Long Fork; two daughters, Rena Merle Loyless of Akron, Ohio, and Inez Berle Hampton of Long Fork; two brothers James Wesley and Hatler Burke both of Long Fork; three sisters Cousby Branham of Weeksbury and Charlene Burke and Sarah Ann Burke, both of Long Fork; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren
Funeral Services were conducted June 19 at R. S. Jones & Son Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Sam Casebolt officiationg. Burial was made in Joseph Burke family cemetery at Long Fork.

Obituary for Florence Tackett
Florence Tackett, 80 years of age of Long Fork of Virgie passed away Thursday, August 13, 2015 at the Pikeville Medical Center. She was born on February 22, 1935 to the late Roland and Allie Roberts. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; Lindy Burg Tackett, one son; Ronnie Tackett, three brothers; James, John L. and Tillos Roberts and two sisters; Cindy Balcam and Christine Stewart.
She is survived by three sons; Don R. (Nehia) Tackett, Ralph (Lois) Tackett, Roland Keith Tackett all of Virgie, three daughters; Linda C. Tackett of Lenore, WV, Jessie (Randall) Younce of Little Robinson, Florence Ann Kilgore of Virgie, one sister; Rellie Vanhoose of Bowling Green, sixteen grandchildren along with a host of great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM at the Hall and Jones Funeral Home with Greg Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park at Pikeville. Visitation will be at the Hall and Jones Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Friday with a service at 7:00 PM with George Johnson Jr. officiating and Saturday Night at 7:00 PM with Sam Casebolt officiating.
