oseph Dale Hash age 79 of Galax, Virginia passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Hash was born on June 24, 1932 in Virginia to Charles Gleason and Christie Halsey Hash. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-son Richard D. Spurlin.
He is survived by his wife Myra Cox Hash of Galax, Virginia; son Timothy Dale Hash of Woodlawn, Virginia; step-daughter Anja S. Taylor of Cana, Virginia; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters June Miller of Bluefield, West Virginia; Kathleen Arrington of Vinton, Virginia; brothers Kelly G. Hash of Galax, Virginia; J. Alex Hash of South Carolina; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 4:00 PM in the Felts Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Randy Morris officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

John Sturgill, age 80 of Grassy Creek, died Monday, May 1 0 at the Ashe Living Center. Mr. Sturgill was born May 1, 1 924 in Ashe County to the late Carl and Blannie Sturgill.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 1 2 at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rex Hall, Clarence Greer and Nathan Mash officiated. Burial followed in th e Mash Cemetery with military rites. The family received friends from noon -2:30 p.m., Wednesday prior to the funeral.
Mr. Sturgill is survived by his wife, Jean Mash Sturgill ; a son, Michael Sturgill of Brandon, Fla.; brothers, Breece, Paul and Dean Sturgill, all of Lansing; and a sister, Neva Nobles of Tampa, Fla.

Lon Duncan Campbell
Lon Duncan Campbell, 61, of Elkton, MD, died Thursday, April 10, 2008, in the Calvert Manor Healthcare Center, Rising Sun, MD.
Born in West Grove, PA, on March 18, 1947, he was the son of Eva Irene (Brooks) Campbell of Elkton, MD, and the late Ronda Jones Campbell. Lon was a Supervisory Readjustment Counseling Team Leader for the Vet Center, Elkton, MD. He worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs for 40 years, first as a Readjustment Counseling Therapist, then for the past 25 years as a Team Leader for the Readjustment Counseling Service. Lon was also a licensed mortician. He graduated from the American Academy McAllister Institute of Mortuary Science, Inc., in New York City in 1967 with a degree in mortuary science. He fulfilled his apprenticeship in 1969 and has practiced since then. Lon served in the U.S. Army from 1969-71, where he attained the rank of SGT. (E-5). He attended and graduated from the NCO Academy at Fort Lewis, WA. As a member of the 1 1/2 Sixth US Army Escort Detachment, he served as a casualty escort at the Oakland Army Terminal in Oakland, CA. During the Vietnam War, he escorted 40 bodies home to multiple states and represented the Army at the funerals. Lon was much loved by his family, professional colleagues, and friends. With his sensitivity and his desire to help, he touched the lives of a wide variety of people. He will be remembered for many things, particularly his wit, his ability to tell a great story, and his diverse interests, which included hunting, fishing, cooking, reading, antique collecting, and the Northeast River.
Survivors include 3 sisters, Alta Campbell of Earleville, MD, Mavis Gibson of Elkton, MD, and Clara Campbell of Earleville, MD; 2 brothers, Hugh Campbell of Elkton, MD and Zane Campbell of Elkton, MD.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at 10 am at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation for family and friends on Tuesday, from 2-4 pm and again from 6-8 pm. Rev. James B. Jones will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Veterans Service Organizations, in care of the funeral home.
Interment will be in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.

Ralph 'Bud' Reed, age 93, of Rising Sun, MD, was called to join the Lord on Friday, February 12, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born in Conowingo, MD on January 16, 1918 to the late Elmer and Pearl (McCollough) Reed. He served his country in the Army during WWII. He married Ola Belle Campbell in February 1949 and largely contributed to her musical success. He retired from Metropolitan Life after 20 years. Bud built and started New River Ranch alongside his wife, Ola Belle Reed and brother-in-law Alex Campbell in 1951. A great accomplishment in his life was recording with his wife Ola Belle Reed where he sang, played guitar and harmonica, on her albums between 1972 and 1978. He also recorded his own Jimmy Rogers album with Folkways Records in 1982. Bud enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his son, David Reed and wife Kathy, of Rising Sun, MD; daughters, Jo Ann Hayes of Havre de Grace, MD and Kathleen "Kathy" Shelton of San Antonio, TX; brother Howard Reed of Port Deposit, MD; sisters Gerry Webb of Rising Sun, MD, Eleanor Wimbish of Baltimore, MD, and Gladys Kesee of Florida; a daughter-in-law Georgia Reed of Gillette, WY; 9 grand children; 7 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his wife Ola Belle Reed, a son Ralph Reed, Jr., and a grandson James Glen Hayes.
A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home where friends and family may call one hour prior. Burial will be private.

Funeral services for the Rev. Ralph Reed Jr. will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Abundant Life United Pentecostal Church in Gillette with the Rev. Steve Carnahan officiating.

Mr. Reed, 60, of Gillette died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, after an extended illness.
He was born July 14, 1950, in Rising Sun, Md., the son of Ralph E. and Ola Belle (Campbell) Reed Sr. He attended school and graduated in 1968 from Rising Sun High School. He attended Apostolic Bible Institute and graduated with a bachelor's of Bible theology.
He married Georgia Lumbard on July 31, 1971. They lived in several different places, including Cody where he was employed as a pastor. He also has worked in a sawmill and as a grocery store department manager, Hot Springs Pools and Spa manager, computer salesman, and in his own business R&R Mobile Home Repair. The family moved to Gillette in 1993.
He was a general licensee with the United Pentecostal Church International and a chaplain for Campbell County Memorial Hospital. He enjoyed reading and preaching God's word, working and playing on computers, hunting and fishing. He played the banjo, guitar and bass and enjoyed singing. He was an avid baseball fan. The highlight of his sports fan life was seeing the Colorado Rockies play in the 2007 World Series.
He is survived by his wife of Gillette; father, Ralph E. Reed Sr. of Rising Sun; sons, Ralph Reed III of Ringgold, Ga., Nathaniel of Morgantown, W.Va.; daughters, Stephanie España of Farmington, N.M., Stacey Randall of Rising Sun; Joann Walsh of Billings, Mont.; brother David Reed; half sisters JoAnn and Kathy; five grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ola Belle Reed.

13489. Joe Allen Cox
Joe Allen Cox, 42, Williamsburg, passed away Saturday morning, June 21, 2003 at his home.
Survivors include his mother, Yvonne Moses Cox of Williamsburg; two sisters, Linda Brown and husband, Donald of Williamsburg and Mary Jane Rose and husband, Tommy of Rockholds; three brothers, Steve Cox and wife, Cynthia of Williamsburg, Elbert Cox and wife, Wilma Lee of Sidney, Ohio, and Danny Cox and wife, Denise of Williamsburg; nine nieces and nephews and two great-nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 25 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marion Cook and Rev. Elmer Parks officiating. Burial was in the Whitley Memorial Gardens.
