Mary pioneered from Alleghany County, North Carolina, in 1900. In January of 1913, Mary had a stroke, from which she never recovered. She died in March of 1913. Because of the severe winters, the rest of the family moved to Pasadena California shortly after.

Thomas was the son of Esquire John Parsons and Phebe Laxton of Alleghany Cty NC.
Thomas moved with his wife Pop to Nebraska.
When she died he moved with most of the family to Los Angeles.
