NANCY GRAYBEAL, 79
Mrs. Nancy Graybeal, 79, died at the Taylor County Hospital April 19, 1974. She was a resident of 807 Page Street, Campbellsville. Mrs. Graybeal was a native of Ashe County, N. C., born April 2, 1895, the daughter of the late Charles and Rebecca Denny.
(Mrs. Graybeal was married to Mr. Oscar Graybeal who preceded her in death, she also was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Hayden Graybeal).
She is survived by nine children; Mr. Hubert Graybeal of Mannsville, Mr. Edward Graybeal, Mr. Raymond Graybeal, Mr. Merrell Graybeal all of Louisville, Mr. Bruce Graybeal, New Albany, In. , Mr. Roy Graybeal of Campbellsville, Mrs. Lucial Bailey, Mrs. Okry Farmer, Mrs. Pearl Cox all of Louisville. Two brothers survive; Floyd Denny of Arlington, Va. and Adolphus Denny of Langley, N. C..Four sisters also survive; Mrs. Lillie Farmer, Mrs. Coy Miller both of Mt. City, Tn.,Mrs. Mary Denny of Lanceing, N. C., and Hattie Waymon of Campbellsville. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from the Lyon Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, April 21, 1974, with the Rev. J. D. Campbell officiating. Interment followed in the Elliott Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Charles Cox, Barry Cox, George Cox, Herbert Graybeal, Paul Osborne, and Harold Sluder.

Roy Oscar "Oscar" Graybeal

ROY OSCAR GRAYBEAL, 65
Funeral services were conducted for Roy Oscar Graybeal Friday, Dec. 30, 1960, at the Lyon Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Jesse (J.D.) Campbell. Burial was in Elliott Cemetery, Taylor County.
Mr. Graybeal was born in Ashe County, Noth Carolina, May 11, 1895, the son of the late George "Emmett" and Myrtie Humby Graybeal, and died at his home in the Robinson Creek Community, Route 1, Campbellsville. Death was due to a heart attack. He had been a farmer and sawmill operator in Taylor County for several years.
He is survived by his wife, the former Nancy Denny, and the following children; Bruce Graybeal, Mrs. Orkie Farmer, Mrs. Pearl Cox, Raymond Graybeal, Mrs. Lucille Bailey and Murrell Graybeal all of Louisville; Hubert Graybeal, Route 2 Bradfordsville, Millard Graybeal, Fern Creek, and Roy Graybeal at home. Also the following brothers and sisters; Joseph Graybeal and Bearl Graybeal of Cincinnati,Oh.,Bascom Graybeal, Spencer Graybeal, Ed Graybeal and Mrs. Pearl Moore all of Taylor County; 29 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ray Mings, Robert Smith, Richard Burress, Fred Thompson, Harold Williams and Paul Osborne.

Ruby Lillian Greer

LANSING \emdash Mrs. Ruby Lillian Greer Denny, age 101, of Lansing passed away Monday, Oct. 19, 2015 at Hillview Family Care.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Shepherd, Rev. Dan Hess, and Rev. Gary Gambill officiating. Burial followed in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family received friends on Friday, Oct. 23 from 7:-9 p.m. at Boone Family Funeral Home.
Mrs. Denny was born in Ashe County on Jan. 18, 1914 to the late Madison and Neva Wolfe Greer. She married her loving husband, Dolphus Denny in 1931. She was a Foster Grandmother for 13 years; she was also known as "Granny Denny". She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and cooking for her family on Sundays. She loved the Lord and was a member of Rainbow Mennonite Church.
Mrs. Denny is preceded in death by her husband Dolphus Grady Denny, two sons; Bruce and Charles Denny, two daughters; Clara Denny and Doris Shupe, five sisters, and three brothers.
She is survived four sons; Doyal Denny and wife Jean of Lansing, Jim Denny and wife Rosemary of Knoxville, Tennessee, Larry Denny and wife Sue of Lansing, and Gary Denny and wife Carma of Piedmont, South Carolina, 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; four step great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be sent to Medi Home Hospice, PO Box 421, Jefferson, NC 28640.

William Grant Davis

1930 Ashe county, NC census: living near brother Millard.

Newspaper Article: Couple observes 50th Aniversary, Mr and Mrs William Grant Davis of Route 5, Ballard observed their 50th wedding anniversary at their home Saturday. The couple was married Jan. 3, 1920 in Ashe County, NC. She is the former Florence Hall of Granson, NC and they have lived in Monroe County for 22 years. They are the parents of eight sons and four daughters and have 31 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Nine of their children attended a luncheon in thier honor. They were Clarence of Ballard, Mrs Beulah Cochran of Sophia, Mrs Opal Canady and Howard Davis, both of Ravenswood, Mrs Mae Pierce of Mountain City, TN, Warren of Daniels, J.C. of Woodsfield Ohio, Roger of Prosperity and Mrs Patsy Bennett of Lerona. A reception followed the luncheon with about 60 guests attending. The table was covered with lace over gold tablecloth and was centered with a three-teired cake and punch bowl. Their other children are Ralph of Sophia, and Elworth of Media, PA. The oldest son is deceased.

Obituary: William Davis - Forest Hill, William Grant Davis 82, died Friday in a Hinton hospital after a short illness. Born Dec. 9, 1899, in NC he was a son of the late Jordan and Sarah Jane Taylor Davis. A retired Coal miner and a member of the Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Davis lived in Monroe County for the past 35 years.
Survivors include his wife Florence Hall Davis; seven son, Clarence Davis of Forest Hill, Ralph and Warren Davis, both of Beckley, Willard Davis of Meada, Pa., Howard Davis of Ravenswood, James Davis of Woodsfield, Ohio and Roger Davis of Prosperity; four daughters, Mrs Beulah Cochran of Sophia, Mrs Opal Canady of Ravenswood, Mrs Mae Pierce of Mountain City, TN, and Patsy Bennett of Lerona; two brothers, Millard and Garney Davis both of Lansing, NC; three sisters, Mrs Martha TAylor of Liberty, Ky., Mrs Ollie Perry of Lansing, N.C, and Mrs Mary Taylor of Zanesville, Ohio. 42 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Gaither Winfield Osborne age 94 of Jefferson, died Friday, January 21, at the Ashe Living Center.
Mr. Osborne was born in Ashe County, on May 10, 1910 to Johnny and Lillie Juanita Greer Osborne. He was preceded in death by his wife Ressie Hall Osborne. Funeral Services were held Sunday, January 23, at 2 p.m. at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Rev. Lonnie Carpenter officiated. Burial followed in the Roten Graybeal Cemetery in Warrensville. The family received friends Sunday, January 23 from 1 2 p.m. at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Mr. Osborne is survived by sons, Garland Eugene "Bud" Osborne of Lansing, and James Darrell Osborne of Lansing; daughters, Della Mae Birney of Elkton, Md., Iris Dean Allen of Elkton, Md., Brenda Roten of Warrensville, Veda Marie Taylor of West Jefferson, and Reda Gail Darnell of Lansing; ister, Mamie Barker of Lansing; 17 Grandchildren 30 Great Grandchildren 2 Great Grandchildren. Iris Dene Allen, age 66, of Elkton, Md., died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005.
She was predeced in death by her husband, Bodie Martin Allen, in 2002. Mrs. Allen was survived by a daughter, Sandy Justice of Elkton; a son, Mark Allen and wife Wende of Elkton; four sisters, Della Mae Birney of Elkton, and Brenda Roten, Veda Taylor and Rita Darnell, all of Lansing; and two brothers, Garland "Bud" Osborne and Darrell Osborne, both of Lansing. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Gee Funeral Home, 259 East Main Street, Elkton, Md. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service. Internment will be at Elkton Cemetery in Elkton, following the service.
