He may have married Willie Denton 1st; however, he was married to Maggie L. Robinette in 1947. He was living in Dayton, Ohio, USA in 1947 and working as a Power Mill Operator.

BLEDSOE, Kenneth Joe age 78, of 759 Hillcrest Ave., Carlisle, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at his residence. He was born on June 19, 1925 in Fairview, Virginia, the son of William M. and Mary Susan (Robinette) Bledsoe. He was formerly employed by Frigidaire for 30 years as a production worker. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Dessie Bledsoe, Golda Gilliam and Kate Bellamy and brothers Loren E., Clarence R., William M. and Isaac H. (Carson) Bledsoe. He is survived by his wife Mary Rachel Bledsoe of Carlisle; daughters Nancy Lee (Gale) McElwain of Somerville, Erma Kate Morrow of Franklin and Ada Ruth (Gary) Irvin of Carlisle; brother Edgar Bledsoe of Dayton; grandchildren; Randy Morrow, Chrystal McElwain, Dennis McElwain, Jennifer Morrow, Kevin McElwain, Cydney Johnston, Joshua Johnston and Micah Johnston and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, May 7, 2004, 10:30 A.M. at Anderson Funeral Home (FRANKLIN), 1357 E. 2nd St. with the Reverend Phil Moon officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Miami Valley Memory Gardens. Fall From Roof Fatal To Walker M. Surgill


Funeral services for Walker M. Surgill, 63, of Glen Daniel will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Doff Harvey. Burial will be in the Calfee Cemetery at Mount Tabor.

Surgill died at 8 p.m. Wednesday in a local hospital as a result of injuries sustained when he fell from the roof of his home earlier in the evening.

It was reported that Surgill was on his roof installing a television antenna when he fell. He was said to have suffered a broken neck. He was taken from his home to a local hospital in a vehicle.

Born in Fairview, Va., on Dec. 18,1896, he was a son of Andrew Felix Surgill of Kingsport, Tenn., and the late Amanda Robinette Surgill. He was a retired miner, having worked for the Eastern Gas and Fuel Associates at Eccles.

Surgill was a member of the Methodist Church and had been a resident of Raleigh County for the past 27 years.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Dolly Bledsoe Surgill; two daughters, Mrs. Nell Davis of Norwalk, Ohio, and Miss Ruth Surgill, at home; five sisters, Mrs. Vennice Steadham of Bigstone Gap, Va., Mrs. Maude Roller of Fairview, Mrs. Ethel Robinette of Kingsport, Tenn., Mrs. Cornie Medinghall of Kylesford, Tenn., and Mrs. Eva Tripp of Miamisburg, Ohio.

The body will remain at the Calfee Funeral Home until the
funeral hour.
