Obituary - Donald F. Potter, 78, of South Shore, KY., died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY. He was born May 19, 1930, in Greenup County, Ky., a son of the late Zack Potter Sr. and Dora Skeens Potter. He was a Captain retired from the U.S. Army serving in Korean and Vietnam Wars. He also retired from Operating Engineers Local 181 in Ashland, Ky. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth "Bettie" Davis Potter; one son, LCDR Donald F. (Bridgett) Potter Jr. of Semmes, Ala.; one daughter, Donna F. Potter of Versailles, Ky.; granddaughters, Maria Dawn (Shawn) Harmon of Quincy, Ky., and Katie Potter of Garrison, Ky.; three brothers, Cecil Potter of Portsmouth, Kenneth Potter of Ashland, Ky., and Eugene Potter of Martin, Ohio; four sisters, Evelyn "Marie" Bates of South Shore, Dorothy Barney of Portsmouth, Wanda Angel of South Shore and Dora Mae Dalton of South Shore. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest Potter and Zack Potter Jr.; and one sister, Martha Lewis. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2008, at Morton Funeral Home in South Shore, with Robert Potter officiating. Burial will be in Siloam Cemetery, in South Shore, with military graveside rites by James L. Flannery American Legion Post 276.
