Obituary of Martha Potter Vanover;
Mrs Martha Vanover, widow of the late Circuit Judge Roscoe Vanover who served this district in the early twenties, died at the home of a son, Russell Vanover, on Chloe Creek, at 2:40 o'clock Friday afternoon following an illness of six months with complications of ailments.

Mrs Vanover, sixty eight years old, was born near Hylton on May 23 1869 and was the daughter of Mr and Mrs John Boone Potter. Near Hylton on Sept 10, 1885, she was married to Roscoe Vanover, a prominent attorney of Pike County, who was elected circuit judge in 1920. Judge Vanover preceded her in death on Sept 18, 1927. Mrs. Vanover had been a member of the Christian Church for many years.

Surviving are five sons, Roscoe Vanover, Jr, John Vanover, Russell Vanover, Curtis Vanover and Bob Vanover, all of Pikeville; six daughters, Mrs J B Whitt and Mrs J F Weddington, of Claremore, Okla; Mrs Marcella Vanover Cooper and Mrs Florence Williams, of Pikeville; Mrs Ike Adkins, of Owsley, and Mrs H W Rash, of Bluefield, W VA;

Three brothers, George Potter, of West Liberty; Enoch Potter and John Morgan Potter, of Hylton, and two sisters, Mrs D W Greer of near Portsmouth, Ohio; and Mrs Susan Reece of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Christian Curch here with Rev E C Traylor and Rev Lee Ford officiating. Burial was in the family plot at the Pikeville cemetery.
