Obituary Beatrice Sword Potter
1902-1984

Paintsville resident Beatrice Sword Potter died November 11 1984 in Paul B. Hall Medical center. Mrs. Potter was the daughter of Herbert and Hila Ramsey Sword. She was born in Pike County and was a member of the First Christian Church. Her husband, William H. Potter, preceded her in death November 16, 1978. Surviving are two daughters, Ileen Bell of San Antonio, TX and Juanita Hinkle, Ft. Pierce, FL; and a sister, Stella Hicks, Lynchburg, VA; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 14 in Jones- Preston Funeral Home Chapel with Terry Jones officiating. Burial was in Wells-Buckingham Cemetery in Paintsville under the direction of the Jones- Preston Funeral Home. Paintsville Herald, Wednesday, November 21, 1984

William H Potter, 83 died Thursday, November 16, 1978, in Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg. Mr. Potter was born, January 6, 1895, in Letcher County, son of Elbert (Albritton) and Mardilla Mullins Potter. He was a resident of Paintsville, a retired C & O Railroad employee, a veteran of World War I and a member of the First Christian Church. Surviving are his wife, Beatrice Potter, whom he married July 1, 1919, in Pike County, two daughters, Deen Bell, San Antonio, TX, and Juanita Hinkle, Paintsville, two brothers, Charley Potter, Yager, and Harless Potter, Clintwood, VA, three sisters, Rebecca Stomber and Martha Jayne Hall, Whitesburg, and Polly Ann Adkins, South Carolina; five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 18, in Jones-Preston Funeral Home handling arrangements. Honorary pallbearers were palmar Vance, Mitchell Adams, Carroll Williamson, R. B. Harrington, Jess Songer, Jimmy Adams and Frank Johnson. Active pallbearers were Ike Hall, Dick Fitchpatrick, Larry Sword, Charles Potter, A. B. Potter, Ernest Sword, and Chuck Sword. Ileen Potter Bell born May 5, 1922 in Hellier, KY, passed away February 15, 2009 after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin O Bell, Jr.; her parents, William Henry & Beatrice Sword Potter; sisters, Geneva Potter and Juanita Potter Hinkle and her brother, W.H. Potter, Jr. She is survived by many nieces, great nieces, great great nieces, nephews, great nephews and great great nephews. Pallbearers: Dell Wayne Brown, Ace Fairchild, Clint Fairchild, Wain Fairchild, Leon Gailey, Jeff Parker, Henry Orien Pohl and Dean Seitz. Honorary Pallbearers: Joshua Charles Lee Fannin, Herbert Deskin, Jr., Herbert Deskin III (Tray), Charles Geisky, Kenny Benton, William H. Potter III. SERVICES Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Chapel Service at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Fred Tips Mausoleum Chapel. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park North.
