Virgil C. Powers Sr., 91, of Harlan passed away Wednesday July 22, 2009, at the Harlan Nursing Home. He was a retired printer for the Harlan Daily Enterprise and the Paris Daily Enterprise, he was also a long time basketball and baseball coach for Loyall and Harlan Little League. He was preceded in death by Frieda Powers; his parents, John Finley Powers and Nora Alice Mason Powers; two children, Ramona Gail Saylor and Ruth Ann Powers; four brothers, Caleb Powers, Grant Powers, Bill Powers and Lenzo (Tubby) Powers; one sister Pearl Fritzgerald. He is survived by three children, Larry Grant Powers and wife Varita, Florida; Clark Powers and wife Elayne, Kingsport, TN and Charles Phillip Powers and wife Wendy, Harlan; two brothers, Walter (Dickie) Powers and wife Joann, Dayton, OH and Charles Bryan Powers and wife Jerri, Lexington, KY. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. Friday in the chapel of Loyall Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 7:00 P.M. Friday July 24, 2009 in the chapel of Loyall Funeral Home with The Reverend Larry Powers and The Reverend Billy Durstine officiating. Graveside service 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Resthaven Cemetery. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers family request make donations to the Loyall Church of God Building Fund, P.O.
