Abraham Cantrill Ramey and Angeline Adkins

Abraham Cantrill Ramey b 29 Sept. 1851 Pike Co KY d 3 Feb 1912 Wurtland, KY buried Worthington Cemetery, near Greenup Co KY, s/o Daniel Ramey and Lucinda Carty. Abraham Cantrill Ramey m. 17 Mar 1872 by Elder James Johnson to Angeline Adkins b 8 Dec. 1852 d 5 Sept 1926 Russell Co KY, buried Worthington Cemetery, near Greenup Co KY, d/o Jefferson Adkins and Lovina Austen.

Abraham Cantrill Ramey was a farmer and a carpenter, and was an itinerant preacher in the Christian Church. During 1873 and 1874 he was enrolled in the state militia. From his mother he learned about herb medicines, and practiced herb doctoring among his family, friends, and neighbors for many years; he was especially good on diagnosis.

In appearance, Abraham was a tall, rangy man with a cat-like walk; he had coal black hair, black chin whiskers, and piercing black eyes. From Pike County KY he moved to Floyd County KY, where he lived for a few years. Then he moved to Greenup Co KY, where he farmed near Anvil Rock and on Ulen Branch. He died in Wurtland KY, 3 Feb. 1912 and Angeline died 5 Sept. 1926 in Russell Co KY. They are buried in the Worthington Cemetery near Greenup, Kentucky. John Wesley Ramey taught school in Kentucky and Texas, having received his education in Kentucky schools. For many years he was a salesman for a wholesale grocery firm. Later he went into business in Russell, Kentucky, as a wholesale and retail merchant of groceries and dry goods. John was a church, civic, and business leader of Russell KY; he served as a police judge for many years. Children of John Wesley Ramey and Myrtle Mae Franz;

I.1. Eleanor Angeline "Ella" Ramey b 6 Apr 1906 m. 27 Apr 1927 to John Martin Millis b 20 Jan 1893 d 7 Jun 1969, s/o Charles L Millis and Sarah Ross. Eleanor Angeline "Ella" Ramey was postmistress at Russell KY for 19 years. She is retired, and lives in Russell KY. Children of Eleanor Angeline "Ella" Ramey and John Martin Millis; 1. Ruth Bantherville Millis b 17 Apr 1928 m. Charles Edward Perry; m. Walter Paul Vallance 2. Marilyn Lee Millis b 25 Oct 1930 m. George Daniel Corum, Jr   3. John Martin Millis Jr b 9 Jul 1934 m.
