Notes for DAVID DEEL:

The first known ancestor in my Deel lineage was David Deel, born in Germany, came to America on the ship "Favorite", Captain Nicholaus Volans from Hamburg , Germany. David moved to Washington Co Va from eastern Va then to Russell Co V a, on Levisa River, now known as Buchanan Co. When he came to this country his name was "David Diel". He married Elizabeth Coleman, thought to have been full blooded Cheorkee Indian. [JerryDeel.FTW]

4. MALACHI2 DEEL (RICHARD1) was born Abt. 1776 in Roanoke, North Carolina, and died Aft. 1870 in Greenbrier, Virginia. He married (1) SARAH ELIZABETH BOWMAN. She was born Bet. 1790 - 1795, and died Bef. 1859 in Greenbrier, Virginia. He married (2) SARAH ROMANS October 26, 1859 in Buchanan Co VA.

Notes for MALACHI DEEL:

BIOGRAPHY: Although Malachi Deel was born about 1776 in North Carolina, possibly Roanoke, he is thought to be of Irish descent. He married Sarah (possibly Sarah Elizabeth) whose surname is unknown. Sarah and Malachi had at least five children, maybe more. It is possible that some of their children remained in North Carolina when Malachi moved to Virginia.

In his book "Pioneer Recollections", E. J. Sutherland states that Malachi and Benjamin Deel were cousins but that exact connection has not been determined. Malachi died after 1870. He lived near the mouth of Greenbriar and is buried on the right hand fork.
