Notes for FREDERICK II STILTNER: Frederick Jr. was supposed to have been born 4 February 1788, in which case he would have been one month old when his folks married. It was not unusual in those days for couples to "marry" themselves and perhaps have several children before a minister came through their remote area and would sometimes marry a dozen couples in a group. Jacob states on his marriage records of 1857 in Russel County, Virginia, that his father was Frederick Stegler and mother was Elizabeth.

Frederick Charles Stiltner died September 22, 1844 in Buchanan County, Virginia at an age of over 90 years, and his wife Sarah Deil died in 1862.

Obituary: JOSHUA DEEL:
It's with a sad and lonely feeling that I shall try to write a short obituary of our Great Grandfather Joshua Deel. He was born in the year of 1800 and deceased in 1909 making his stay here on earth 109 years. He was the son of Malachi and Sally Deel. He was married at an early age of 15 years old. He was married to Rutha Blankenship and to this union was three children. She died and left him a widower. He later married Pruda Prudence Gibson and to this union was 14 children. She died leaving him a widower. Later he married Abigail Coleman. In a short time they separated and then he married Polly Mullins. They lived together many years and then she died. At the age of 99 he married Louisa Baker. They lived together 10 years and then he died and left her a widow.

He never joined any church here on earth but was a strong believer in the Old Regular Baptist. He went to church as song as he was able. He always gave good council. He would say for everybody to do right. I feel and believe that his soul is resting in the Paradise of God, awaiting for the resuuection morning. All of his children are dead and gone on to world beyond. He has a host of Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren to mourn his loss. We hope our loss is his eternal gain in Heaven. There are more things we could say, but we will close by saying we hope to meet him around the Throne of God. With all the bloodwashed army of God where we can sing forever more.
Written by Sarah Deel and Minty J O'Qinn Great Grandchildren.

iii. ELENDER "NELLIE" DEEL, b. February 10, 1851, Buchanan County, Virginia; d. May 09, 1941, Buchanan County, Virginia.

Notes for JAMES HARVEY DEEL:

Obituary of James Harvey Deel

It is in much weakness that I try to write this obituary of my dear Grandfather, J. H. Deel. He was the son of Joshua and Pruda Deel. He was married to Sarah Ann Deel and to this union was born a girl who is still living to mourn the loss of Father. He didn't join the church but confessed Jesus in his death bed. He called the brethren into his home to preach for him. He was confined to his bed for two months and eleven days, but he bore his sickness with patience, I believe trusting alone in the Lord Jesus.

Mother departed this March 26, a year ago. He, after her death, married Violet Owens and to this union was born 5 children. 2 died in infancy and 1 one girl and two boys still live. Grandpa was a father to this country, was loved by all who knew him. He was 86 years old at the time of his death, which occured on 9 January 1940. We miss him here but I feel that he had made a happy exchange and that his soul is resting under the Golden Alter of God, awaiting the redemption of his body. He leaves his widow with 4 children and a host of friends to mourn his loss but we hope is his eternal gain.
We love him, yes we loved him,
But the Angels loved him more,
And they came and called him,
To yonder shining shore.

Written by his Grandaughter
Ramie Hill.
