V. Wilson Eslin "Willis" Short b 15 Aug 1836 Wise Co VA d 11 Feb 1912 m. Nancy Ann Reynolds b 1839 d 15 Jul 1878 (during childbirth of Dora Bell Short); d/o Joseph Reynolds and Queentina Amburgey. Wilson Short was born in Wise County, VA. He migrated to Carr Creek in Knott Co., KY and raised his family there. He acquired extensive tracts of land on Carr and Caney Creek. He later sold some of the land on Caney to Milton Owens. Wilson served as a Private in the 10th Infantry of the Confederate Army from June 21, 1864 to June 21, 1865 during the Civil War. He died at his home on February 11, 1912 as a result of gastritis.
