Herbert "Ray" Shortt age 91 of Jenkins,Ky. passed away Friday December 26, 2014 at the Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana, Ky. Herbert was born April 20, 1922 to his parents the late Charlie an Violas Shortt. Herbert was retired from the National Mines Service Co., a member of the protestant faith, was in the US Army and World WarII, and belonged to the VFW lodge.
Along with his parents Herbert was preceded in death by his wife Rudell Shortt, two brothers, Verlin Baker, Lindsey Baker.
Herbert is survived by two daughters, Pat (Omar) Faris, Teresa (Chuck) Johnson, two brothers, Benny Baker, Paul Baker, one sister Gladys Sweeney, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends who love him and will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be Sunday 6 p.m. at the Burdine Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral will be Monday 12 noon at the Burdine Freewill Baptist Church. Sunday visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Green Acres Cemetery, Ermine, Letcher Co KY.
