From the 1892 Paulding Co. OH Atlas: Joshua Slusher, a thriving farmer of Blue Creek township, was born in Clay Co. Ky January 20, 1854, the son of William and Nancy (Howard) Slusher of German parentage. Our subject grew to manhood on the homestead farm, and was educated in the common schools. Here he was joined in wedlock on August 14, 1873, with Miss Easter, daughter of Elisha G. and Sarah (Howard) Bingham of Kentucky. They are the parents of nine children, whose names are: Mary, William, Sarah, Phillip, Benjamin Franklin, Gillis, Green, Nancy and Calloway. Mr. Slusher is one of the staunch democrats of the county, and a man highly respected, both as a farmer and private citizen . The family are members of the Baptist church, and enjoy high social standing. Our subject located in this county in November, 1889, and has since resided here engaged in tilling the soil. (Joshua owned 80 acres in Blue Creek Township of Paulding Co. OH. Joshua and Easter moved from Kentucky to OH approximately 1889. Joshua returned to KY around 1900, leaving Easter and all his children, except the youngest two, Calaway and Elijah b 1898, in Ohio. Joshua married 2nd Linda Sizemore.

Mr. John Henry Patterson, 75, of Mills, was born on June 17, 1926 and passed away Sunday, March 31, 2002 in the Knox County Hospital. He was the son of the late Frank and Mary Jane (Mills) Patterson, born to them in Knox County. On August 4, 1946, he united in marriage with Troy Belle Sizemore and to this union five children were born. Mr. Patterson was a member of the Salem Missionary Baptist Church. He had been a coal miner. He is survived by his wife, Troy Belle Patterson, of Mills; two daughters, Ollie Sizemore and husband Larry and Patricia Mills and husband Pete, all of Mills; four sons, Orie Patterson and wife Vickie, D.C. Patterson, Randy Patterson and wife Dennie, all of Mills and Tony Wayne Patterson of Barbourville; seven grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. John Henry Patterson will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, April 4, 2002 with the Rev. Bobby Abner and the Rev. Bill Engle officiating. Mr. Patterson will be laid to rest in the Polly Warren Cemetery at Mills. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
