"Dan Slone, 31, Fatally Hurt In Accident. Dan A. Slone, 31, of Millard, was
fatally injured about 8:30 Friday night when a car struck a power pole on Rocky
Road near the Millard Grade School located on U.S. 460, officers reported. His
seven-year-old brother, Denny, also of Millard, and listed as the only other
occupant of the vehicle was hospitalized shortly after the accident. Denny was
reportedly thrown from the vehicle. ... Funeral services for Dan Slone, were
held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John D.
Slone, of Millard. Ministers of the Primitive Baptist Church officiated. Burial
followed in the Bevins Cemetery at Millard under direction of the Justice
Funeral Home. ... Slone, a miner, was born in Pike County. He was a son of John
D. Slone and Florence Slone, of Millard. He was a member of the Primitive
Baptist Church. Survivors include his parents; a son..; four brothers, Johnny
Jr., and Denny, both of Millard; Leo, of Chicago; and Donnie, of Ashland; two
sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Morrison, of Ashland, and Miss Evelyn Slone, of Millard;
the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Slone, of Fishtrap, and the

"SHEFFIELD TOWNSHIP - Elder David Slone, 66, of Sheffield Township, pastor of
Little Edna Old Regular Baptist Church, died Monday, June 18, 2001, at the
Cleveland Clinic Hospital, of injuries sustained in an accidental fall in
Pikeville, KY. on June 6, 2001. He was also assistant pastor of True Vine Old
Regular Baptist Church in Akron. Slone was born Jan. 20, 1935, in Pikeville,
KY., and moved to Lorain in 1956. He graduated from Hellier High School,
Pikeville, and studied at Pikeville College. He was employed as a straddle truck
driver for Lorain Works of U.S Steel for 31 years, retiring in 1985. He had
previously been a coal miner in Pikeville. He was also a member of the United
Steelworkers of America Local 1104. Survivors include his wife of 44 years,
Linda (nee Tucker); son, Gary David Slone Sr. of Lorain; three grandchildren,
two great-grandchildren; and sisters Sophie Slone of Pikeville, KY. and Liza
Kindrick of St. Clair Shores, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents Owen
Slone and Pearlie (nee Thacker); brothers Dan, Benny, Mitchell and Clarence; and
sisters Nancy Chaney, Florence Slone and Mercy Chaney. ... Funeral services will
be Friday at 9:30 a.m. in Little Edna Church... Burial will be in Ridge Hill
