The following article is from the New Carlisle, Ohio Newspaper (ca. Dec.
1978):
"Local Man 91 Years Young"
Doc Webb of 104 N. Pike St., New Carlisle, OH., celebrated his ninety-first
birthday recently, with an open house for a large group of friends and
relatives.
Born in Letcher County,
Ky., in 1887, Dock is a remarkably active man. He not only maintains his own
home and tends a large garden there, but also looks after rental property
which he owns nearby. In addition he still finds the time and energy to
supervise various family projects.
When the unofficial
"mayor of Pike St.," is asked about his prescription for longevity Dock,
smiles and mentions the hard work and the vegetables he grows himself.
However, close relatives claim that while his affinity for vegetables-and in
particular, mustard greens- play a part, his "plain old stubborn streak" is
really the thing that keeps him going.
Helping Dock celebrate
his birthday at the recent open house were his grandchildren, who planned the
event. They are Jan and Joe Webb, Diana Webb Beatty, June Webb Ritchey, and
Paul and Bonni Barrett, all of New Carlisle, Ohio.

"Mrs. Jane K. Webb Dies At Her Home"
During the night of Thursday last, Mrs. Jane Kincer Webb, 78, of Bottom Fork,
life long companion of Little Joe Webb, who is now in his eighty-fourth year,
became suddenly ill and passed away soon afterward. Married ofer fifty-five
years ago, she had resided with husband almost on the same spot on Bottomfork
Creek near Mayking ever since. The deceased was a daughter of the late Fred
and Lydia Adams Kincer, once a well known citizens who resided most of their
life on the head of Mill or Cram Creek.
For years the deceased
had been in poor health, but continued as a rule to do her domestic duties.
She was a highly intelligent and industrious lady and a member of the Mayking
Regular Baptist Church for about 20 years. She leaves her husband, two sons,
Doc and Critt of Bottomfork and three daughters, Mrs. John Polly of Pert
Creek, Mrs. Howard Adams and Mrs. Winston Gibson of Bottomfork besides a
number of brothers and sisters.
Mr. Burke of the Burke
