Betty Woods Ritchie: (April 29, 1927 - July 29, 2009): The obituary of Mrs. Betty Woods Ritchie Officiating will be: David Allen: Mrs. Betty Woods Ritchie born April 29, 1927 departed this life on Wednesday July 29, 2009 at Bluefield, WV being 82 years and 3 months of age at the time of her passing. Betty was born at Viper, Kentucky the daughter of the late Benjamin Woods and the late Nervesta Jane Brashear Woods. Betty was a member of the Presbyterian Women’s Club and also a member of the Princeton, WV Ladies of the Moose Auxiliary. She was a retired LPN by occupation. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by 2 sons- Cecil K. Allen and Sidney Allen; 4 brothers-Raliegh, Felix, Herbert, and Everett Woods, 4 sisters—Essie Evans, Mary Lewis, Edna Walker, and Bonnie Woods; 1 grandson-Aaron Fleming.

Mrs. Betty Ritchie leaves the following relatives surviving: husband—Balis Ritchie of Princeton, WV; 4 sons—Richard Allen of Tucson, AZ., David Allen of Bluefield, WV., Ronald Allen of Oklahoma City, OK, and Ben Allen of Springfield, MO.; 1 daughter—Cynthia Fleming and husband Fred of Jonesboro, AK.; 2 step-daughters—Susie Ritchie of Morgantown, WV., and Patty Tarter & husband Joe of Berea, KY.; 1 sister—Golda Woods Linder of Hazard, KY.; 8 grand children and 9 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Woods Ritchie will be held at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home, 301 East Main Street, Hazard, KY. on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. with David Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Resthaven Cemetery at Jeff, Kentucky. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
