Monroe Boggs was raised by his grandfather Mart Kazee after his father passed away. When he was a young boy, he would walk to school and start a fire in the stove for 10 cents a week. He also would be paid by local ladies to watch their clothes when they were hanging out on the line to dry to keep them from being stolen. He could remember hunting squirrels to feed the elderly when they were sick, because people thought that squirrel meat would help them heal (kind of like chicken soup today). Monroe served in World War II. He enlisted on October 9, 1943, at Huntington, West Virginia

John Dallas Boggs

John Dallas is buried in the Boggs Cemetery, Orr, KY. He died of tuberculosis. His father, John Milton Boggs, was the informant on the death certificate and gave his son's full name as John Dallas Boggs, although the family called him Dallas. Dallas had three small children at the time of his death. It appears that the children may have been split up and lived with different sets of grandparents. Death Certificate: 7016195 (Microfilm), Cert 14817
