Obituary: Robert Davis
25 Jan 1958 - 18 Aug 2013

Robert "Red" Davis, 55, of Ages, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2013, surrounded by loving family and friends. He was born on January 25, 1958 in Fleming Neon to the late Mary Strange Bailey and Ralph Davis. He believed in the Pentecostal faith and attended Coxton Faith Tabernacle. Robert was a coal miner for 33 years employed by Harlan-Cumberland Coal Company. Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother.

Robert was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Greene Davis; mother, Mary Strange Bailey; father, Ralph Davis; two brothers, Ralph David Davis and Gary Potter; and a brother-in-law, Richard Brown.

Robert is survived by his wife, Alice Dean Davis, Ages; his sons, Robert Lee Davis and wife, Kellie, and their unborn son, Robert Elijah Davis, Kildav; Travis Perkins, Coxton; and Billy Perkins and wife, Whitney; five sisters, Sue Brown, Ironton, OH; Edna Huckeby and husband, Leonard, Matewan, WV; Carol Mills and husband, Brice, Evarts; Jay Moses and husband, Carl, Harlan; Julie Richards and husband, Mark, New Concord, OH; and four brothers, Billy Potter, Columbus, OH; Roger Davis, Ohio; Berie Davis and wife, Renee, Rio Vista; Ricky Davis and wife, Michelle, Rio Vista. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Hunner Lee Perkins and Kaydelynn Perkins; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and co-workers.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 until 9 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Thursday, August 22, 2013, in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with the Reverend Stan Nicely officiating. Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Condolences may be left for the family at www.harlanobits.net.
