More About Green G Fuller
Green G Fuller was killed in the mines at Carr Fork Coal Co., Vicco KY (per Carl Breeding). Mother, Ida Fuller Potter (sister of Green G Fuller) and her family always believed that it was no accident. G had been in disagreements with Goebel Combs and this Combs man was operating the coal car that caused G's death.
Goebel Combs was also prosecuted for the stabbing death of their cousin, Corbett Smith who was stabbed to death by Goebel Combs. Goebel Combs was sent to prison for this murder. Goebel Combs knocked Corbett's hat off and when Corbett bent down to pick it up, Goebel started stabbing him while he was bent over proceeded to stab him to death.
Green G Fuller died in the mines at Vicco, KY at age 25 years 5 months and 6 days. His death was officially ruled an accident defined as Hit head on trap door in mines, fractured skull and chest. (Slate fall in mines was listed and then crossed out on his death certificate). See Death Certificate
In the lower part of death certificate it states the following answers to the following questions: 23. Specify whether injury occurred in industry, in home, or in public place. In mines at Allock Ky. Manner of injury - Struck head against trap door. Nature of injury - fractured skull. 24. Was disease or injury in any way related to occupation of deceased? Yes.
Green G Fuller was musically talented on a professional scale and very popular among his family and friends. Mother often spoke of Uncle G's talent and said that he played and sang professionally well and could play nearly any instrument including the piano.
Our Mom, Ida Fuller Potter, loved him and spoke of him often. His death at a young age induced feelings of great sorrow upon Mom, Ida Fuller Potter and her family and friends. Even up until Mom's death, she would tell the story of her brother G Fuller's, death and you could hear the terrible grief in her voice and tears would well up in her eyes and stream down her cheeks. I asked Mom how to spell G's name and she told me that his name was just the letter G to distinguish him from his father, Green Fuller. So in their family, the father was called Green by the adults and the son was called G. Mother remained grieved over his death her entire lifetime.
