This was in the "Clinch Valley Times" Thursday, November 11, 2004,SaintPaul, Va.Dee Jessee, 70, died Sunday, October 24, 2004, at his home inCastlewood,Va. Born in Dickenson County, he was the son of the lateJonas and Ethel(Hughes) Jessee He was preceded in death by his wife,Mary Belle Jessee.
Survivors include one son, Michael Jessee, Lebanon Va., foursisters,Peggy Plummer, Abingdon Va. Bessie Grizzle, Conway, JoanneWright,Castlewood, Va., and Dorothy Wright, Dante Va., and severalnieces andnephews.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2004,atPatton-Wampler Cemetery, Dickenson Co. Va., with Rev. Ted PhillipsandRev. Palmer Leftwich officiating. Pallbearers were family andfriends.

LEBANON, Va. - Agnes Hess Jessee, 91, went to be with the Lord onFriday,July 10, 2009, in the Mountain View Retirement Home. She wasborn, March8, 1918, the daughter of the late James and Susan BartonHess. She was amember of the Green Valley Baptist Church. In additionto her parents,Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, B.C.Jessee; daughter, BettyJ. Ferguson; son, James "Bud" Jessee; grandson,Freddy Jessee; sevensisters, Margaret McCloud, Olie Hess, SarahMiller, Matilda Miller,Rachel Miller, Mary Hess and Minnie Miller; andseven brothers, JohnHenry Hess, Marshall Hess, Grady Hess, LawrenceHess, Lon Hess, CarlosHess and Carson Hess. Mrs. Jessee is survived byfive daughters, Louiseand Jim Haymes, Williamsport, Pa., Rebecca J.Barrett, Fran and MartySchlichting and Linda and Freddy Garrett, allof Lebanon, and Clara andLewis Thomas, Bristol Virginia; 10grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren,three great-great-grandchildren;11 stepgrandchildren; one half sister,Susie Mitchell, Hopewell, Va.;and many nieces and nephews. The familywould like to thank the staffsof Legacy Preferred Home Care, MountainView Retirement Home and CHealth. The funeral service will be conductedat 2 p.m. Monday, July13, 2009, in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel,with the Rev. JimFuller, the Rev. Paul Hite and the Rev. Paul Kinderofficiating. Burialwill follow in Russell Memorial Cemetery. Family andfriends will serveas pallbearers. The family will receive friends after6 p.m. Sunday,July 12, 2009, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers,memorials maybe made to the Legacy Hospice, 1963 Second St., Richlands,VA 24641; orto Green Valley Baptist Church, 695 Green Valley Road,Lebanon, VA24266.
