ODIS MAGGARD
Odis Lonzo Maggard, 76, of Pound, passed away Thursday (June 3, 2004) at the James H. Quillen Disabled Veterans Medical Center, Mountain Home, Tenn. after an extended illness.
Mr. Maggard was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a retired coal miner and of the Protestant faith.
Odis was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Mazie (White) Maggard; a brother, Avis Maggard; and a great-grandson, Dalton Meade.
Surviving are daughters, Anna Meade, Pound, Patricia Fetters, Rockford, Ill., Kimiela Mortizavi, Kellen, Texas, Lawanna Mullins, Albuquerque, N.M.; sons, Wendell Ray Maggard, Mannassas, Roger D. Maggard, Pound and Billy Maggard, Plato, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Norma Jean Wright, Church Hill, Sandra May, Kingsport; brother, Harley Durham, Keokee; a host of friends and loved ones to mourn his passin
Services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 6 in the Sadie Baker Memorial Chapel of Baker Funeral Home, Pound with the Rev. Jerry Lusk officiating.
Military graveside services followed the service at Meade Family Cemetery (Killen Hollow), Pound, by Pound VFW Post 9600.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Jeffrey Allen Maggard, 37, died April 24, 2002, in Emporia, Va. He was a member of the London Bridge Baptist Church.
He was the son of the late Leroy Maggard. Survivors are his mother Alic Kelly Maggard; a sister, Joyce ''Sissy'' Martin and husband, Rodney, of Atlanta, Ga.; three brothers, Rick L. Maggard and wife, Madelyn, Dennis L. Maggard and John D. Maggard, all of Virginia Beach; his paternal grandmother, Nellie Maggard of Big Stone Gap, Va.; three nieces, Ashley Maggard, Aly Maggard and Emma Martin; four nephews, Michael Maggard, Cory Maggard, Bryce Martin and Stephen Maggard; and his fiancee, Maurine Burgett Volkmeir of Minneapolis, Minn.
A graveside service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at London Bridge Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Wayne Skinner. Memorial donations may be made to the Outreach for Christ, P.O. Box 4326, Virginia Beach, VA 23454. Maestas Funeral Home, Baltic Avenue Chapel, is handling arrangements. "

YAKIMA - W. Arnold Maggard, age 82, a longtime orchardist and resident of Yakima, WA passed away on March 2, 2007, after a long and courageous battle with emphysema and COPD.

Arnold was born on March 13, 1924 to Alfred and Adah Maggard in Bradleyville, MO. Arnold married Juanita Nalley on August 23, 1941 and they had five children.

Arnold served in the 8th battalion of the United States Army, and was on the front line in Germany when WWII came to an end in Europe.

After the war, Arnold continued his education in Branson, MO where he attended school and completed classes in agriculture science. In 1949, Arnold and the family moved to Yakima to begin a lifetime career in the fruit industry.

In 1969, Arnold and Juanita purchased an apple orchard in the Naches Heights area west of Yakima. Over the next several years the family fruit business expanded, and he and other family partners operated a successful apple growing business that included several ranches in the Naches Heights area, Mattawa and Othello, WA.

On April 7, 1993, Juanita passed away. Arnold met Genea (Land) Burgess, and they were married on September 17, 1996. During their time together, Genea and Arnold enjoyed traveling to the Ozarks where they discovered they were born approximately 70 miles apart.

Arnold is survived by his wife Genea, of Yakima; five children, William Maggard and wife Judy, Gary Maggard and wife Cindy, Thomas Maggard, Stephen Maggard and wife Becky, and Marla Brady; seven grandchildren, Scott, Loren, Amy, Jason, Eric, John and Matthew; and seven great grandchildren, Jensina, Kegan, Kylee, Holly, Megan, Shadow and Samantha. He is also survived by Genea's daughter, Barbara Love and husband John, and their two children, Catherine and Jeremy.

Arnold is survived by one brother, Burl Maggard and wife Helen, and two sisters, Thelma Floyd and husband Leon, and Velma Kelley, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arnold was preceded in death by his mother and father, three brothers, Delbert, Manford, and Rex, and one sister, Pauline.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 09 at Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 9th Avenue.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 12, 2007 at the New Hope Community Church of the Nazarene, 700 N. 40th Ave., Yakima, WA. Reception immediately following the services. A private graveside service for immediate family and close friends, will be held in the afternoon at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
