2614. Rex Allen Maggard

OBIT
PARAGOULD — Rex Allen Maggard Sr., 55, passed away Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011 at his residence.

He was born Aug. 12, 1955, in Ava, Mo., to the late Woodrow and Gertie Butler Maggard. He was a farmer and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also was a devoted family man.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Connie Clairday Maggard; a son, Rex Jr. and his wife Brittney of Paragould; four daughters, Marie Allen and husband Chris, Misty Haynes and husband Randy, all of Paragould, Jenny Stone and Rebecca Maggard of Jonesboro; six brothers, Leonard Maggard and Danny Butler of Trumann, Donald Maggard of Black Rock, Ronald Maggard of Jonesboro, Joe Galloway and Russell Maggard of Missouri; and eight grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Williams, and a nephew, James Williams.
All services will be private under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

2626. Kenneth Eugene "Gene" Maggard

Gene K. Maggard, 69, Springfield died at 8:03 p.m. Sunday in Cox Medical Center North after a long illness.
Gene was born April 27, 1923, to Henry and Vida Maggard. He was a WWII Army Veteran and self-employed masonry contractor, retiring in 1987.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy; three daughters, Delores Weaver, Carol Yocum and Tersa Tarteuaar; four brothers, Cecil, Roy, Eddie and Joe; three sisters, Esther Patrick, Florence Patrick and Beulah Clapper; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in White Chapel Memorial Gardens with Rev. Marvin Batson officiating under direction of Thieme Colonial Chapel.


Dorothy E. Hitchcock

Dorothy E. Maggard, 82, Springfield, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Cox South Hospital. Dorothy was born on March 2, 1922, in Kansas City, Mo., to the late Rufus and Effie Alice (Manning) Hitchcock. She later met and married Gene Maggard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; one daughter, Carol; and two brothers. Survivors include daughters Delores Weaver and husband James, and Teresa Tartenaar and husband Earl of Springfield; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother; and three sisters. Graveside services will be Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at 11 a.m. in White Chapel Memorial Gardens with visitation one hour prior to services at the Thieme-Shadel-Hicks Funeral Service at White Chapel.
