George W. Hannah, Company A

"George [Hannah] joined or enlisted in the Ky. 39th Inf., on 13 Sept. 1862, to serve three years during the Civil War . . . Mother, Grace Ross Hannah, recalls talk that he was wounded through the bladder area and he had a wound that never healed entirely. George was known to have received a pension for his war service. George was wounded in the Battle of Cynthiana, Ky. His discharge papers state that he was wounded 12 June, 1864 . . . I have a copy of the the Casualty Sheet: 'wounded, June 11, 2nd Brigade, 1 Division, wounded severe,' Col. D.A. Mims." (Charles D. Ross)

The Adjutant-General's Report states that George W. Hannah, Co. A, 39th Kentucky, was discharged, date unknown, at Covington, Kentucky, on account of wounds. He was listed as a resident of Paintsville, Johnson Co., Ky., in the 1890 Special Veterans Census.
