Donald Wayne Walker Sr., formerly of Eolia, KY, died October 12, 2007 at his home in Talbot, Tenn. Born in Harlan County, KY, he was a son of Lillian Anderson Walker of Talbot, Tenn., and the late Alford Walker. He was a retired construction worker. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Mary Kathy Smith Walker; three children, Donald Walker Jr., Patricia Cook, and Melissa Boggs, all of Whitesburg, KY; two stepchildren, David Smith, Eolia, KY, and Timothy Smith, Talbot, Tenn.; a brother, Stanley Allford Walker, Knoxville, Tenn.; four sisters, Emma Meeks, Hopkinsville, KY; Jackie Frazier and Nora Walker, both of Whitesburg, KY; and Mary Davis, Talbot, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Wampler, Josh Dean

Josh Dean Wampler of Thornton, died January 1, 2008 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital, Whitesburg, KY. He was 63 years old. Born in Letcher County, KY, he was a son of the late Frank and Goldie Craft Wampler, the father of the late Sonny Bates, and an uncle of the late Jonas Wampler and Matt Wampler. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Surviving are his wife, Pearlie Bates Wampler; a son Josh Wampler and wife Vickie, Isom KY; three daughters, Diana Sparkman and husband Danny, Slemp KY, and Teresa Bates Davis and Lizzie Ann Bates, both of Thornton, KY; a brother, Eddie Wampler and wife Brenda, Mayking KY; three sisters, Peggy Dixon and husband Hagel, Indianapolis, Ind., and Brenda Collins and husband Jimmie and Glenna Wampler, all of Whitesburg KY; a daughter-in-law, Vicky Adams, Beaver Dam KY; and seven grandchildren, Randi Wampler, Autumn Wampler, Taylor Davis, Waylon Sparkman, Brianna Sparkman, Sierra Bates, and Alyssa Jo Adams. Ward, J.T.

Funeral services for J.T. Ward, 81, of Whitesburg, KY, were held June 9, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Whitesburg, KY. Burial was in Resthaven Cemetery at Harlan, KY. A son of the late Charles and Amanda Partin Ward, he was born in Evarts, KY. He died June 6, 2008 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde and Cecil, and two sisters, Evelyn and Christine. Ward was a deacon and a teacher of the Follace Fields Sunday School Class at Whitesburg First Baptist Church. He was active in the church's local missions and was a trustee of Oneida Baptist Institute and a member of Gideons International. He was the retired president of Whitaker Bank, formerly the Bank of Whitesburg, and was a former member of the Local Advisory Council of Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was a member of the Whitesburg Rotary Club, where he was named a Paul Harris Fellow. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Ward; a son, Charles E. Ward and wife Kyleen, Lexington, KY; a daughter, Elizabeth Kaye Hackworth and husband Ken, Lansing, Ks.; four grandchildren, Dr. Kimberly E. Hackworth, Kristina K. Hackworth, Matthew Peyton Ward, and Katie Ward; two great-grandchildren, Caroline Grace Ward and Braxton M. Ward; and a brother, Bobby G. Ward and wife Betty, Corbin. John Watts, 90, of Hallie, died September 18, 2008. He was a son of the late Eli Watts and Polly Ann Watts Campbell. A daughter of the late Steve and Vina Watts Caudill, she died October 11, 2007 in Heath, Ohio. She was married to the late Floyd Watts, and was the mother of the late Lora Fouts and a sister of the late Earl Watts. Mrs. Watts was a member of the Cedar Grove Old Regular Baptist Church. Margie Caudill Watts, 61, died April 1, 2008 at her home at Hallie, KY after a long illness. She was a daughter of Georgia Caudill and the late Kermit Caudill. Mrs. Watts retired last year from the Letcher County, KY Board of Education after 38 years. She was a member of the Linefork Homemakers Club. Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Robert Watts; a sister, Martha, and two brothers, Will and Mike, all of Hallie, KY; five nephews, Willard, Tim, Terry, Eric, and Dennis; five nieces, Betsy, Missy, Renae, Angie, and Melinda; six great-nephews, Austin, Kaden, Colby, Jackson, Sawyer, and Willard Allen; and four great-nieces, Beth, Savanna, Felicia, and Courtney. Funeral services for Karen Sue Webb, 41, of Centerville, Ohio, will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday) in Beavercreek, Ohio. Burial will be in the Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, OH. A daughter of the late Palmer and Dorothy Webb, she was a sister of the late Michael Keith Webb. She died May 13, 2007 at Miami Valley Hospital. Webb was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Gulf War. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion Post 165 in Miamisburg, Ohio, and the International Association of Work Force Professionals. She was employed as a veterans employment representative with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. John Paul Wells Jr., 69, of Prestonsburg, KY, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at Riverview Healthcare Center, Prestonsburg, KY. He was born in Prestonsburg, KY, April 7, 1939, the son of the late John P. Wells and Birdie Griffith Wells. He is survived by his stepmother, Donna Wells. A daughter of the late Arthur and Nannie Sergent Lucas, she was the widow of Ray Williams. She was the mother of the late Donald Ray Williams and Kenny Williams; a sister of the late Luther J. Lucas and Vula Blair; and the grandmother of the late Michelle Williams Begley.
