Obituary: Melvin Otis Potter
June 21, 1939 - August 28, 2017
Melvin Otis Potter, age 78, of Fleming-Neon, Kentucky passed away on August 28, 2017 at the Pikeville Medical Center at Pikeville, Kentucky. He was born at Neon, Kentucky on June 21, 1939 to the late Jesse R. Potter and Mary Riley Potter.
Mr. Potter was a long-term member of the Fleming Baptist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion (Post 104), Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Potter served his country honorably, as a two-tour Viet Nam Veteran of the United States Air Force. He also served on the Neon Volunteer Fire Department, the Fleming-Neon Water Commission and as a Letcher County Special Operations Officer. Melvin greatly enjoyed his woodworking and artistry.
He was preceded in death also by his loving wife: Glenda Fay Mosgrove Potter one daughter: Vicki Hanzelka and by one sister: Sally Louise Wissinger.
Mr. Potter is survived by two sons: Timothy Potter of Jenkins, Kentucky and Jeffery (Charlene) Potter of Cromona, Kentucky; two sisters: Peggy Patrick of Baltimore, Maryland and Phyllis (Jack) Wright of Jackhorn, Kentucky; two grandchildren: Leah McElroy and Ashley Walton; five great grandchildren: Jaxson, Landyn, Stacy, Elaine and Tyler; two special friends: David and Angie Hardin; along with a host of other family and many friends.
Visitation for Mr. Potter will be held at the Fleming Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 with family viewing at 5:00 PM and the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Also visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 30,2017 at the church from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
Funeral services will also be conducted from the Fleming Baptist Church on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Brent Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine, Kentucky.
Obituary: Sally Louise Potter Wissinger

Sally Louise (Potter) Wissinger, 68, of Russell, KY, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at her home in the arms of her loving husband and surrounded by her dear family.
She was born in Jackhorn, KY on August 15, 1948 to the late Jesse R. and Mary E. (Riley) Potter.
Sally graduated from Fleming-Neon High School and continued to receive an Associates Degree from Calvary College in Home Economics and became board certified through the National Registry for chair side dental assistance, received her EMT at Tri-county Vocational School, CNA at Withlacoochee Technical College for the state of Florida and CNA at Ashland Community Technical College for the state of Kentucky.
She worked as an office manager and surgery assistant for Citrus Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in Crystal River, FL for 23 years. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Sally is survived by her husband of 45 years, John M. Wissinger of Russell, KY, her son Michael R. Wissinger of Russell, KY, her daughter Amy L. (Wissinger) Anderson and son-in-law Phillip Anderson of Flat Rock, IN, 4 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, mother-in-law June Wissinger of New Lexington, OH, brother Melvin Potter of Fleming-Neon, KY, sisters Peggy (Potter) Patrick of Baltimore, MD and Phyllis (Potter) Wright and brother-in-law Jack Wright of Jackhorn, KY, brother & sister-in-law Ken & Edra Wissinger of New Lexington OH, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Lynn Patrick of Baltimore, MD, sister-in-law Glenda Potter of Fleming-Neon, KY, and niece Vicki (Potter) Hanzelka of Vincent, OH.
The family would like to thank Dr. Matthew Lewis, the staff at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, Community Hospice of Ashland, and Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods for their services and loving care.
Obituary: Glenda Faye Mosgrove Potter

Glenda Faye Potter, age 74, of Fleming-Neon, Kentucky, left this earth to join her Heavenly Father on August 5, 2015 at her home. She was born on March 3, 1941 in Apex, Kentucky and had made Fleming, Kentucky her home for the past several years. Glenda had worked for several years as a clerk for Super America. She loved her home and to maintain her yard. Glenda was reborn in the Lord in February of 1996; and she was a member of the Fleming Baptist Church. She was a person who greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and getting to spend time with family and friends.
She was a daughter of the late John F. Mosgrove and Alta Gibson Mosgrove. Glenda was also preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Hanzelka; a son, Julis Maggard; two sisters, Bobbie Goodman and Alma Mosgrove; and four brothers, Jed Mosgrove, Chester Gibson, Oscar Mosgrove and Paul Mosgrove.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin O. Potter, of Fleming-Neon, Kentucky; two sons, Timothy Potter, of Kona, Kentucky, and Jeffery Lee Potter (Charlene), of Cromona, Kentucky; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jessie Valisick, of Prudentville, Michigan, and Nina Koski, of Haquian, Washington; two special friends of the family, David and Angie Hardin, of McRoberts, Kentucky; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday August 7, 2015 from 6:00-9:00 PM at Carty Funeral Home Neon Chapel, Neon, Kentucky. Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 8 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home, with Edmon Bolling officiating. Interment will follow at Green Acres Cemetery, Ermine, Kentucky.
