Obituary of Norwood Potter

Norwood Potter, age 80, of Jackhorn, Kentucky, passed away Saturday August 23, 2014 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center, Hazard, Kentucky. He was born on June 2, 1934 at Jackhorn, Kentucky and lived most of his life in Jackhorn, Kentucky.

Mr. Potter was a retired coal miner of thirty plus years. He was a member of the Son of the American Legion, of Neon, Kentucky, Post 104.

He was a son of the late Morgan and Virginia Hunter Potter. Mr. Potter was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruby Potter; his step-mother, Helen Potter; a son, Donnie Lee Potter; a step-son, Clarence Price; a sister, Jackie; and an infant brother.

Mr. Potter is survived by his six children, Johnny Potter (Teresa), of Jackhorn, Kentucky, Michelle Hall (Matt), of Tennessee, Deloris Najera, of Florida, Colleena Steel (Jesse), of Ohio, Judith Darlene Mullins, of Kentucky, and Sam Price, of Ohio; four sisters, Minnie Pratt, of Morristown, Tennessee, Wilma Epifano, of Thornville, Ohio, Vickie Watts (Ken), of Blacky, Kentucky, and Gina Wright (Mike), of Crafts Colley, Kentucky; seven brothers, Clabe Potter, of Neon, Kentucky, Charles Potter, of Jefferson, Tennessee, Lee Potter (Debbie), of Lebanon, Virginia, James Potter (Gerldine), of Knob Noster, Missouri, McKinley Potter (Janie), of Kimbolton, Ohio, Terry Potter (Joanne), of Tennessee, and Jeff Potter (Michelle), of Jackhorn, Kentucky; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a long list of nieces and nephews; and a number of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday August 24, 2014 after 6:00 PM at Carty Funeral Home Polly & Craft Chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Monday August 25, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Frank Fleming officiating.

Interment will follow at the Potter Cemetery, Potter Town, Kentucky.
