Obituary: Francis Grant Stallard

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Ermine home of Francis Grant Stallard, 81 year-old farmer who died at home Sunday, June 8 1952. The son of James M. and Louise Sergent Stallard, Francis was born at Southdown in Letcher County June 26, 1870. Early in life he was married to Eliza Jane Adams, daughter of Mayo and Siler Adams. Seven children were born to this union. Later in life, he married Mary Bell Adams, who survives him. Four children survive this latter marriage. Besides nis wife he is survived by eight children, Ermine; Mayo Stallard, Mrs. Palmer Spangler, Leonard Stallard, Ermine; Russell, Ruth Beckley, Fla., John M. Stallard, Neon: J. Wash Stallard, Lexington; Riley Clay Stallard, Michigan; Ruby Collins, Van; and Grant Stallard Jr., Cumberland. Two brothers, Wash and Johnnie Stallard, preceded him in death. Two sisters, Susan Combs and Minerva Combs also preceded him in death. Mrs. Lizzie Combs, a sister who resides on Crafts Colly, is the only surviving member of the immediate family. Burial was in the Stallard Cemetery, Craft Funeral Homes in charge. Glenn Stallard and Raymond Webb officiated at the funeral. He had been a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church since 1900.


Obituary: Lettie Adams Craft Haynes

Well Known Mother Of Craft's Colly Passes On Early Wednesday morning, Mrs Lettie Craft Haynes, wife of Charlie Haynes of Craft's Colly passed to the great beyond. Death was due to a paralytic stroke. Mrs. Haynes had been in ill health for several years previous. She was a daughter of the late Mayo Adams and Mrs. Sillar Craft Adams and was born and reared in the vicinity of Mayking. Mrs. Haynes was 55 years at the time of her death. Early in life she was married to Charlie Haynes of Craft's Colly. To this union were born a number of sons and daughters, several of whom preceded her in death. Many years ago she joined the Regular Baptist church and was a faithful, member. She leaves her husband, Charlie Haynes, four sons, Herbert, Lloyd, Columbus and John, and her aged mother, a host of friends and relatives to mourn her loss. Funeral services were Thursday, by G. Bennett Adams and other elders of the Regular Baptist church. She was laid to rest in the Thornton cemetery. Burke and Craft Funeral Home had charge of the funeral arrangements.
