Obituary: Vera Boggs Mitchell

Services are held for Vera Mitchell By Mountain Eagle Staff | on July 23, 2008. Funeral services for Vera Boggs Mitchell, 91, were held July 14 at Letcher Funeral Home. Burial was in the Hogg Cemetery at Kingscreek. A daughter of the late Jonah and Pearlie Hampton Boggs, she was the widow of Isaac Mitchell. She was also preceded in the death by three children, Jerry, Minnie and Wilke; a sister, Wilma Jean Pendleton; two brothers, Venon Boggs and Fess Boggs; a daughter-in-law, Loretta Mitchell; three sons-inlaw, Donald L. Evans, Edward Asbury, and Emerson C. Craig; and three grandchildren, Timothy Isaac Asbury, Curtis Aaron Mitchell, and Heather Olivia Mitchell.

Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the Regular Baptist Church. She died July 11. Surviving are three daughters, Pearlie Ross and husband Bill, Anderson, Ind.; Wanda Carol Evans, Columbus, Ind.; and Darlene Decarola Weaver and husband Doug, Fishers, Ind.; five sons, Billy Ray Mitchell, Marston Mitchell, Isaac Mitchell Jr., and Elwood Mitchell and wife Ethel, all of Columbus, Ind., and Hiram “Tug” Mitchell and wife Tamm, Kingscreek; a daughter-in-law, Marjorie Mitchell Weeks, Abbeville, Ga.; two sisters, Iva Dean Day and Yvonne Ison and husband Quentin, all of Columbus, Ind.; two brothers, Less Boggs and wife Carolyn, Cowan, and Glenn Boggs and wife Vera Ann, Columbus, Ind.; 21 grandchildren, 17 step-grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren.
