Obituary of Edward "Ed" Arthur Brown: Mr. Edward (Ed) Arthur Brown, age 69, of Jackhorn, Kentucky
passed away Friday evening January 11, 2008, at the Whitesburg Appalachian
Regional Hospital, Whitesburg, Kentucky. He was born at Winding Gulf, West
Virginia, on May 27, 1938 and lived most of his life here in Letcher County,
Kentucky. Mr. Brown was a graduate of Pikeville College, receiving an
Associates Degree in Mining Technology. He was a retired coal miner, as well
as a skilled carpenter, who enjoyed fishing, and telling jokes. Mr. Brown was
a United States Vietnam Air Force Veteran, and was also in the Army Reserves.
He was also a member of the McRoberts Church of Christ.
He was the son of the late Arthur Brown and Elizabeth (Hall) Brown, and was
also preceded in death by his step-father, Bural Williams; two sisters: Joyce
Prophett and Glenna "Judy" Cook; and one brother, Robert "Bobby" Brown.
Surviving family members include his wife, Twalla (Potter) Brown, Jackhorn,
Kentucky; four daughters and sons-in-law, Malesa and Larry Hall, Jackhorn,
Kentucky; Cora and Nicholas Sterglopulos, Cincinnati, Ohio; Marissa and Mark
Knight, Grantville, Georgia; and Mary and David Adams, Georgetown, Kentucky;
two sons and daughters-in-law: Bobby Edward and Charlene Brown, Cynthiana,
Kentucky; and Shawn Derek and Jacki Brown, Jackhorn, Kentucky; eleven
grandchildren: Alec, Alea, Jacquelyn, Roman, Nicholas, Cameron, Deforrest,
Christian, Isabella, Evan and Camron; two sisters: Peggy Lynn and Kenneth
Robinson, Staffordsville, Kentucky; and Patty and Leslie Hall, Kona, Kentucky;
and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on January 15, 2008 at the Carty Funeral
Home Chapel, Fleming-Neon, Kentucky. Military Rites by the Big Sandy Chapter
of DAV, Auxier, Kentucky. Interment: Brown Family Cemetery, Pottertown,
Kentucky.
