Obituary: Lewis D Caudill

Lewis D Caudill dies at Seymour (IN). Seymour -- Lewis D. Caudill, 62 died Saturday night at the home of a son, Walter B. Caudill, in Seymour after a 6 week illness. A Kentucky native, he was a retired coal miner. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the home of the son with the Rev. Melvin Watts of Letcher county in Kentucky in charge of the rites. Burial will be at the Baptist cemetery, south of Freetown, and the American Legion will conduct graveside military rites. Persons may call at the Caudill home now. Arrangements for the funeral were made by Zabel funeral home in Brownstown.

Mr. Caudill was born July 11, 1907, in Letcher county, Kentucky, the son of Levi and Phoebe Caudill. In 1928 he married the former Edna Green who died in 1943. In 1945 he married the former Doris Hamilton who survives and resides in Cincinnati (Ohio). Also surviving are two stepsons, Clyde Allen of Muncie (IN) and Richard Allen of Burwick, Pa., and five daughters, Mrs. Larry Bradford of Blocher, Mrs. Theodore Haupt in Germany, Mrs. Ronald Shortwell of Muncie, Miss Virginia Caudill and Miss Nancy Ann Caudill, both of Cincinnati; a sister, Mrs. Clarinda Back of Freetown, and 13 Grandchildren.

Mr. Caudill was a member of the Old Regular Baptist church of Indian Bottom, Ky., and was a veteran of the second world war. He moved to Indiana in 1951.
