William Riley Combs m. 11 Nov 1872 Letcher Co KY to Sarah "Sally" Francis b 19 Oct 1852 Letcher Co KY d 23 Dec 1936 buried small cemetery on hill above grandson's home, Sassafras, Knott Co KY, d/o Simeon "Sim" Francis and Cassie Branham Smith.  William Riley Combs was a school teacher and also owned a mercantile store. He sold the mineral rights for all of his land to various coal companies and retired soon thereafter. He was a prominent citizen of Vicco and Sassafras, Kentucky and was well thought of by all.
