Andrew Jackson Cyrus was probably illegitimate. His death certificate (Lawrence County KY #11289) gives his mother's name as Nancy Loar. His father, Jesse, is not known to have been married prior to his marriage to Sarah White. Tale from Ethel Cyrus and retold to Jeff DIxon by her daughter Louise Compton "A girl that worked on a river boat brought her baby (A.J. Cyrus) to the home of Jesse & Sarah (White) Cyrus because he was Jesse's son. Jesse handed the baby to his wife, Sarah White." Jackson is listed in the home of Jesse and Sarah Cyrus in the 1850 Lawrence County KY Census.
