Zella Mae (Franklin) Hall, age 104, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017, in Treasure Island, FL. She was born May 7, 1912 in Hall, KY, the daughter of John S. and Lizzie Hopkins Franklin. She lived in Peebles, Ohio and Treasure Island, FL. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Hall, brother, Carl Franklin, sisters; Edna Howell and Selma Branham, sons-in-law; Rudolph Howell and Charles Lee, daughters-in-law; Betty Mae Hall and June Hall, granddaughter-in-law, Tammy Hall and grandson-in-law, Eril Silver and great grandson-in-law, Christopher Worcester. She is survived by her five children; Betty (Jim) Taylor, Salisbury, MD, Janice (Thomas) Megil, Lexington, KY, Bobby (Connie) Hall, Dayton, OH, Eva Jean (David) Rebele, Dayton, OH and James (Carma) Hall, Dayton, OH. She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren; Vicki (Gary) Clark, Jennifer (Greg) Nelson, Jay (Connie) Taylor, Betsy Silver, Dr Burnetta (Tommy) Hall, Dussy Hall, Dr Daniel (Darcy) Hall, Dr MaDonna (Jeff) Hall, Skye (Dan) Murphy, Dr Chad (Sharon) Lee, Jamie Hall, Robbie Hall as well as 14 great grandchildren: Chotty (Heather) Thompson, Connor, Sarah Murphy, Taylor (Denise) Lee, Logan Lee, Daniel (Alyson) and Thomas Clark, Eric and Alex Nelson, Jay, Catlin, Drew, Clark, and Cannon Laine and Spencer Hall, four great-great grandchildren; Abigail, Emily, Thomas Riley, Lindy and many relatives and wonderful friends.

Mrs. Mary Edna Franklin Howell, 61, of Zebulon, died at 6 a.m. April 16 (1978) at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital (Pikeville, Pike Co KY) after a long illness. She was the wife of Charles Wesley Howell. Born in Knott County, she was the daughter of John Sherman Franklin and Lizzie Jane Hopkins Franklin. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in the Mullins Addition. Survivors, other than her husband, are four sons, Paul Dean Howell of Warren, Mich.; Charles Herbert Howell of Pontiac, Mich.; Donald Eugene Howell of Lake Orion, Mich., and Bobby Hugh Howell of Zebulon; two sisters, Mrs. Zella Hall of Route Two, Peebles, Ohio, and Mrs. Selma Branham of Mesa, Arizona, and six grandchildren. Funeral services were scheduled at 1 p.m. April 19 (1978) at the Immanuel Baptist Church with Larry Keene officiating. Burial was to follow in Davidson's Memorial Gardens at Ivel (KY) under direction of the Baker Funeral Home.

Charles Wesley (Charlie) Howell, 71, of Zebulon, died at 3:10 a.m. Monday, April 30, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital. He was born in Floyd County on September 30, 1912, a son of the late Farmer and Belle Stratton Howell. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a retired U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Edna Franklin Howell, who died April 16 1978. He is survived by four sons, Bobby H. Howell of Burning Fork Road, Pikeville, Charles Herbert Howell and Donald Eugene Howell, both of Lake Orion, Michigan, Paul Dean Howell of Warren, Michigan; three sisters, Mrs. Flora P. Adkins of Louisville, Mrs. Tony Duncan of Nashville, Tennessee, Mrs Margie Kindt of Shickshinny, Pennsylvania; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled to be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, in the Emmanuel Baptist Church at Mullins Addition with Larry Keene officiating and burial following in Davidson Memorial Gardens at Ivel. Arrangements are under direction of Justice Funeral Home of Pikeville.
