Charlie Victor Potter, Age 91, of Parkview Nursing & Rehab Center, formerly of Dorton, KY, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital, Pikeville, KY. He was born November 16, 1907, in Pike County, KY the son of the late Albert Milton and Virgie Sowards Potter. Charlie worked in an underground mine for forty-two years, and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Survivors includes his wife; Delphia Rogers Potter of Dorton; two sons, James Milton "Jimmie" Potter of Virgie; Donald Potter of Caney Creek; and two daughters, Geraldine Anderson of Newcomerston, Ohio; and Billie Newsom, of Kingsport, Tennesse; four brothers, Ballard Potter of Dorton; Bill Potter of Prestonsburg; Col. Chester Potter of Pikeville; and Herbert Potter of Pikeville; four sisters, Georgia Belcher of Dorton, Bertha Belcher of Shelby Gap, Ruby Vincent of Tipton, Michigan, and Mable Miller of Chattanooga, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 13, at 11 a.m., at the R.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, Virgie Chapel, with Regular Baptist minister

Obituary for Donald Charles Potter. Donald C. Potter, age 77 of Hopkins Fork, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at his residence. He was born on November 6, 1938 to the late Charlie Victor Potter and Delpha Rogers Potter. He was formerly employed by Ford Motors. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by an infant sister; Mary Potter. He is survived by his wife; Sherry R. Tackett Potter, two daughters; Donna Frasure of St. Petersburg, FL, Sharon Vancuren of Princeton, KY, one brother; James M. (Margaret) Potter of Virgie, two sisters; Billie Newsome of Rockhouse, TN, Geraldine (Ravin) Anderson of Newcomers Town, OH, and one grandchild; Paige Heath of Nashville, TN. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 PM at the Hall & Jones Funeral Home with Mike Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in the Eles Case Cemetery at Caney Highway, Pikeville KY. Visitation will begin on Tuesday after 6:00 PM with nightly services at 7:00 PM.

James Milton (Jimmy) Potter age 82, of Virgie passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Jimmy was born on May 20, 1936 to his parents the late Charlie Victor Potter and Delphia Rogers Potter. Jimmy was the husband of Margaret Williams Potter for 63 years, a retired school teacher and school bus driver for the Pike County Board of Education for 55 years, and a member of the Virgie Baptist Church.
Along with his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Potter.
Along with his wife, Jimmy is survived by one daughter, Susana Potter of Pikeville, one son, James Patrick Potter of Bean Station, Tn., two sisters, Geraldine Anderson of Newcomers, Ohio, Billie Newsom of Kingsport, Tn., and a host of loving family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday at 5p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 12 noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Bill Blackburn officiating. Entombment will follow at the Thacker Memorial Mausoleum at the Annie E. Young Cemetery.

Ravin Anderson, 77, of Newcomerstown, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at his residence.
He was born in Shelby Gap, Friday, June 2, 1939, the son of the late Eddie and Ellen Lester Anderson.
He worked as a coal miner for 22 years and was a skilled tradesman. He had a love for bluegrass gospel music, hunting, fishing, basketball and loving his wife, of 57 years. He also loved getting visits from his family and friends. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Gene Anderson (Guessie), Moscoe Anderson (Jeraldine), Thomas Anderson (Sue), Troy Anderson, James Anderson (Cookie), Glema Evans and Morgan Anderson (Brenda); and one brother-in-law, David Meade.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Potter Anderson, whom he married on Aug. 25, 1959; children, Ravanna Surant (David), Ravin Rocky Anderson (Kathy) and Mark Anderson (Willa); grandchildren, LeeAnn Tackett (Nathanial), Rachel Supinksi (Neal), Nikole Buzzard (Jesse), Whitney Anderson, Chase Anderson, Ali Roberts, Chanon Anderson, Dylan Anderson, Chris Roberts, Fletcher Shryock, Hunter Shryock, Chandler Shryock, Zac Surant (Jackie), Bella Surant and Diane Stewart; great-grandchildren, Alex Ison, Bryson Anderson, Olivia Buzzard, Blaze Tackett, Adelyn Surant and Jackson Surant; siblings, Clara Meade, Clinton Anderson (Alice), David Anderson (Rose), Mary Anderson (Frank) and Anthony Anderson (Bonnie); sister-in-law, Virginia Anderson; and brother-in-law, John Evans.
Funeral services were held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, at the Churches of Christ in Christian Union, Newcomerstown, with Rev. Jim Reed officiating. Visitation was held prior to the service.
Local funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, at the Pilgrim Rest Old Regular Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Potter Cemetery, Dorton. Arrangements were under the direction of the Hall & Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.

Billie Evelyn Potter Newsom, age 76, passed away Monday, December 16, 2019 at her home in Kingsport, Tn. Billie was born on Sept. 24, 1943 to her parents the late Charlie Potter and Delphia Rogers Potter. She was the wife of the late James Clyde Newsom, a homemaker, and a believer of the Old Regular Baptist Faith.
Along with her husband and parents, Billie was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Potter and Donnie Potter, and one sister, Mary Potter.
Billie is survived by one daughter, Lisa Carol Newsom Arnold, two granddaughters, Chessie Leigh Arnold, Cassie Lee Arnold one sister, Jeri Anderson, her beloved cat, Lil Bit, and a host of loving family and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Wednesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Thursday December 19, 2019 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Danny Belcher and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Potter Cemetery at Dorton, Ky.
