Hiram H Stamper was the son of William and Emily (Polly) Stamper, and reared at Isom, Letcher County, Kentucky. Some of his descendants are living there at present. (1968) They moved to the Red River in Wolfe County, Kentucky, and operated a card mill for a while. After failing in business they moved back to Letcher County. The county was officially organized in 1842 and died in 1847. (I think he means that Hiram H. Stamper died in 1847). Oliver Stamper's genealogy indicates he died in Wolfe County, Kentucky. Matilda is the daughter of James Sr. and Elizabeth (Kelly) Hogg, who came from Culpeper County, VA via North Carolina to Kings Creek, Kentucky. By Carlice Breeding, 1968
