Obituary: Billy Strange son of the late Robert and Winnie Mullins Strange was born at Puncheon, Kentucky on 13 November 1918; passed away unexpectedly at home on 31 July 1993 making his stay here on earth 74 years, 8 months and 18 days. Billy married Opal Meade Whitesburg, Kentucky on the 25th of August 1941. They had just celebrated their marriage of over 51 years by renewing their vows. He was preceded in death by sisters, Ethel Fleming, Martha Potter, Lizzie and Julie Strange; brothers, Larry, Ellis Eugene and Merle Strange; Billy was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army in Europe. He was a retired miner; retiring in 1974. He was a member of the UMWA for over 40 years. He was a member of the Whitesburg American Legion. He was proud to be known as a veteran, coal miner and Union member. He is survived by his wife, Opal of Jackhorn, Kentucky; daughters, Billie Joyce Martin of Dixon Tennessee, Judy Adams, Sandy Banks, Tabitha Sperger all of Whitesburg, Kentucky; Nancy Adams of Isom, Kentucky; son, Robert Strange of Royal Oak Michigan; sisters, Myrtle Potter of Jackhorn, Kentucky, Ollie Ruszali of Lavonia Michigan, Mary Bailey of Carshocton, Ohio, Emma Miller of Jackson Ohio, Shelby Jean Belcher of Dorton, Kentucky; brothers, Lloyd Strange of Mesick Michigan and Robert Strange Jr of Letart, West Virginia; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. In charge of funeral arrangements, Banks Funeral Home, Fleming-Neon, Kentucky; burial Green Acres Cemetery, Ermine, Letcher County, Kentucky.

Obituary: Opal May Meade Strange, 83, died July 1 (4) at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital. Born in Letcher County, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Tilitha Hall Meade, and the widow of Billy Strange. She was a member of the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church, and enjoyed reading and crocheting. She was a sister of the late Fairy Mullins and Nancy Ford. Surviving are five daughters, Billie Martin, Judy Adams, Sandy Banks and husband Jackson, and Tilitha Sperger and husband Gary, all of Whitesburg, and Nancy Adams and husband Rulah of Isom; a son, Robert Strange and wife Judy of Macomb, Mich.; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grand- children, and a great-greatgrandchild. Funeral services were held July 6 at Everidge Funeral Home. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine, Letcher County, Kentucky.
