Obituary of Hamilton H Vance Son of Lawson Vance and Sarah Jane Gollaway
Hamilton H. Vance passed away at 1:20 A. M. Monday at his home near Hardinsburg. He was 83 years of age. Born at Big Stone Gap, Va. August 12, 1862, he was the elder of two children born to Lawson and Sarah Golloway Vance. His father was killed in the Civil War. When he was 15 years of age his mother moved to Indiana, taking the two boys to make their home. His brother died at the age of 21, leaving him an only child. He was married to Mary Ann Landreth December 18, 1896. She survives with seven of their children. J. Z. Vance of San Francisco, California., John Vance of R.R.4 Hardinsburg; Mrs Wayne Meador of R. R. 1; Elbert and Fred Vance of R. R. 4 Hardinsburg; Thurman Vance Ammons and Sherman Vance of Ekron, Ky. He is survived by 22 Grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Horsley Chapel and burial was in Horsley Chapel Cemetery with Rev. James Curry of Hardinsburg officiating. Alvin Carman of Hardinsburg sang " Jesus Lover of My Soul " The choir of Horsley Chapel rendered other hymns. Pallbearers were Edd Whitfil, Alvin Stinnett, John Stinnett, Hubard Horsley, Ivory Lee Taul and H. F. Blair My grandfather died 12 Jul 1946. Unable to make clear copy of actual clipping.
