WWII Draft Registration: 27 Apr 1942: According to Nathan's WWII draft registration, he was 6 ft tall, weighed 245 lbs. had brown eyes, gray hair, and dark complexion. He was employed by Consolidated Coal Co Jenkins KY and lived at 2183 Sheasefork, McRoberts, Letcher Co KY. Date of registration was 27 Apr 1942 when he was 47 years of age. Flora E. Flo (Austin) Sanders, 89, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi. Born December 24, 1924 in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Nathan and Emma (Elam) Austin. Her marriage was to Edgar R. Sanders on March 11, 1944 in Whitesburg, KY and he survives. Flo had been a cook at various restaurants in Lafayette, Otterbein, Kentucky, and Arizona and she was known for her pies and her cooking. She was a member of the Wisdom Faith Church and the Order of the Eastern Star in Hebron, IN where she was a Past Worthy Matron and had served in various capacities.

Surviving with her husband, Edgar, are their children, Nathan H. Sanders (wife, Tammy) of West Lafayette, Emma L. Lucy Wright of Hinesville, GA, Noralene Wyngarden (husband, Daniel) of Lafayette, Flora Ellen Roudebush (husband, Ronald) of Ridgely, TN, and Ricky Sanders (wife, Melissa) Knox, IN, one sister, Georgia Villalobus (husband, Carl) of Gary, IN, two brothers, Giles Austin, Sr. of Cromona, KY and Roscoe Austin (wife, Mary) of Gary, IN. Flo is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Raymond Sanders and seven brothers and sisters.

Visitation 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the 10 a.m. service Tuesday at Simplicity Funeral Care with her son, Nathan Sanders officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
