Obituary: Corsie Sexton Bates
July 1, 1912 - October 14, 1994
Corsie Sexton Bates, daughter of the late Bennie and Julinia Gibson Sexton was born at Pine Top, Kentucky on July 1, 1912. She passed from this life at the Hazard Hospital, Hazard, Kentucky on Friday, October 14, 1994 making her stay here on earth 82 years 3 months and 13 days. Corsie has been in declining health for the past several years and seriously ill the last three months before her death. Corsie married Millard Bates at Whitesburg, Kentucky on May 3, 1943. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1983. One son J.B. Combs also preceded her. She has been a member of the Hemphill Old Regular Baptist Church since June 15, 1952.
Corsie is survived by children: Millie Hunsaker, Emma Zetta Forthing, Alex Combs, R.B. Combs, Worley Bates, Millard Bates, Jr., Hillard Bates, Bob Bates, and Calvin Morgan Bates; sister: Liddia Fleming of Kingsport, Tenn; brothers: Jr. Sexton of Indiana; Tom Sexton of Whitesburg, KY; Millard Agnfley of Rogers, KY. Also surviving are 46 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. Funeral services for Corsie Bates will be conducted at the Banks Funeral Home - Fleming-Neon on Monday, October 17, 1994 at 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be grandsons Officiating Ministers: Jimmy Hall and others Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery, Whitesburg, KY Arrangements Handled By: Banks Funeral Home - Fleming-Neon, Kentucky
