(located between Big Stone Gap and Pennington Gap, VA). Orlena (Day) Banks (April 1992) states that he was a lumberjack by trade, and that he died a natural death. It has been said that George W. Day wouldn't tell where any of his people came from or who they were. [Reason unknown]).

He was good-natured except when he was drinking. His relatives never knew where he was at any given time. Sometimes it would be a couple of years before anyone would here from him again. He was an all-around good person).

Banks (First Cousin to George Douglas Day) That Millard Day had a child born of an unknown woman while living at Jewell Ridge, Virginia. At least Millard thought it was his child. My uncle Bill (William) Day really was the father of the child. Delzie told me that was the very words of our uncle Bill Day. Need to do research to find the name of the lady Millard was married to at this time and hopefully the name of the child that was born. Note was made on this 19th day of July 1993).

Unknown. Children; 1. Eunice Day 2. Irene Day 3. Doris Day 4. Baby Boy Day killed with Lester in the mine explosion.
(source; George Douglas Day, dayplant@yahoo.com; Lester Day was a coal miner. He was killed in a mine explosion at Dorby, VA, in 1933/1934. Seventeen miners were killed at this time. Lester's two brothers Elbert and Milliard was also in the mine explosion, but escaped through a so-called "dog hole". I (George Douglas Day) have research in Letcher County Court House and found the Marriage Bond of Lester and found he was married to Rachel Sheperd. References are in my family tree Day Book RFDS No. KY/7 sht 1 of 1 . (Also in Vol 38 Page 30 in Letcher County Court House records.) At the present time I am searching for any information on Lester and his wife or children. If anyone has any further information, please contact me).
