James E. "Jim" Mohn,
died Sunday, May 15, 2005, in Shelbyville. Jim was born Sept. 28, 1948, in
Lynch, KY, and was raised in Whitesburg, KY. A graduate of the University of
Louisville, he began a 32 year distinguished career with General Electric which
sent him all over the world, while living in New York, Ohio and Kentucky. He
retired as president and CEO of GE Capital IT Solutions in 2001. He was active
in church serving as elder in the Hudson Ohio Presbyterian Church and a generous
supporter of his hometown church Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church in
Whitesburg. He served on board of Cleveland State University, Cleveland's United
Way, Louisville Hazelwood Treatment Center and the Kentucky Natural Lands Trust.
Jim's other philanthropies included Meals on Wheels, J. Graham Brown Cancer
Center, the Louisville Zoo and the Letcher County (KY) School Foundation. Mohn
funded numerous college scholarships for deserving graduates from the Eastern
Kentucky Region. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Rebecca Mohn; children,
Richard Mohn of Nicholasville, KY, Melissa Leeper of Paducah, KY; two
grandchildren, Alex and Luke; mother and stepfather, Esther and Frank Corrello
of Whitesburg; sister, Myra Corrello of New Orleans, LA; brother, Dan Mohn of
Louisville; special aunt and uncle, Opal and Robert Holbrook and cousin, Sharon,
all of Whitesburg.
