Obituary: Mont V Burke:
12 Jun 1912 - 26 Jan 1989

Mont V Burke son of the late George Washington Burke and Rebecca Ann Johnson Burke. He was born at Speight, Kentucky on 12 June 1912 passed from this life after a short illness at the Jenkins Community Hospital, Jenkins, Letcher County, Kentucky on 26 January 1989 making his stay here on earth 76 years, 7 months 14 days.

Mont was a retired coal miner having worked in and around the coal mines for 38 years. He has been a member of the UMWA since 1937.

He married Icey Johnson on 3 April 1937. She preceded him in death on 17 June 1960. He then married Opal Potter at Clintwood Virginia on 16 March 1968.

Mont is survived by his present wife, Opal Potter of McRoberts, Kentucky; daughters, Betty Branham of McRoberts, Kentucky, Olline Stewart of Clifton, Virginia; stepdaughters, Gloria Adams of Haymond, Kentucky, Pamela and Ann Hoskins both of Fortville, Indiana; sons, Ray Burke of Clifton, Virginia, Fletcher Burke of Manassas, Virginia; stepson, William Dennis Fleming of Cheffield Lake Ohio; brothers, George and Harve Burke of Speight Kentucky; grandchildren, Michel Stewart, Bucky Burke and Doug Burke. Also surviving are 13 step grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren.

Banks Funeral Home of Fleming - Neon, Kentucky in charge of funeral arrangements. Preachers; Frank Fleming and Delmar Isaac. Burial in the Pleasant Johnson Cemetery, Speight Kentucky.
