Obituary: Thomas M Tommy Kern

Thomas M. Tommy Kern, also know as Yogi Potter Kern, age 53, of Shelby Gap, Kentucky, passed away Sunday April 1, 2012, at his home. He was born on February 14, 1959, at Pikeville, Kentucky, and lived most of his life in Pike County, Kentucky.

He loved working with and riding horses. Tommy enjoyed tinkering with things - taking things apart and putting them back together. He also loved hunting, fishing, and UK sports. He was of the Old Regular Baptist faith.

He was a son of the late James thomas Kern and Loretta Mullins Kern, and was also preceded in death by a brother, Mitchell POtter. He was also very close to the late Archie and Vera Potter.

Survivors include three sisters, Sharon Kern Stamper, Pikeville, KY, Candy Potter, Alexandria, KY, and Claudette Potter, of Shelby Gap, KY; three brothers, Robert Lee Kern and James Michael Kern, both of Dover, TN, and Michael Potter, of Shelby Gap, KY; nephews, cody Potter, David Potter, Travis Stamper, Mitchell Kern, Robbie Kern, and Corbin Kern; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation was on Monday and Tuesday evenings April 2 and April 3, 2012, at the Polly & Craft Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday April 4, 2012, at the funeral home chapel, with Robert Kelly, officiating. Interment followed at the Potter Family Cemetery, Payne Gap, KY.

Funeral services for Henry Lee "Moe" Mullins, 70, of Shelby Gap, were held September 13 in Jenkins.

Burial was in the Potter Cemetery at Shelby Gap, Letcher County, Kentucky.

A son of the late Thomas Marion and Lucritia Lou Hall Mullins, he was born at McRoberts, Letcher County, Kentucky. He died September 10, 2009 two days before his 71st birthday, at Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, Pike County, Kentucky.

Mullins had worked in coal mining and for the Kentucky Division of Forestry.

He was a brother of the late Maudie Mae Daniels, Loretta Kern, Vera Potter, Irene Collins, Tom Mullins, Rodolf Mullins, and James Mullins. He is survived by two brothers, Charles Raymond Mullins, Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and David Wayne Mullins, Ann Arbor, Mich.

Nancy Irene Mullins Collins of Shelby Valley, died August 16, 2007 at the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, Pike Co KY. She was 71 years old.

Born at McRoberts, KY, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Marion and Lucretia Hall Mullins and the widow of James Collins. She was a sister of the late Mae Clark, Loretta Kern, Vera Potter, Vernon Mullins, and Rodolph Mullins.

Mrs. Collins had worked as a hotel maid, and had lived in several different states. She had made Pike County her home for the last 25 years.

Funeral services were held August 19, 2007 at Carty Funeral Home. Burial was in the Smallwood Cemetery at Beefhide, KY.

Survivors include three brothers, Henry Mullins, Shelby Gap, KY; David Mullins, Ann Arbor, Mich.; and Charles Mullins, Sevierville, Tenn.
