John Harvey Reynolds b 29 Nov 1879 d 26 Aug 1921 VA in the line of duty as a US Revenue Officer while raiding an illegal still in Johnson County, Kentucky; s/o William Henry Reynolds and Frances Matilda Baker. John Harvey Reynolds was a school teacher. John Harvey Reynolds was killed by a gang of moonshiners by the name of McKenzie. 6 men were sent to prison for his murder. Some of them received life sentences for their crime. John Harvey Reynolds m. 16 Jul 1908 to Carrie Ellen Addington b 2 Apr 1889 d 7 Feb 1964; d/o Rev William Fillmore Addington and Nancy Bentley.

Obituary of Carrie Addington Reynolds: Addington, Carrie b: Apr 2 1889 d: Feb 7 1964, d/o the late Rev. Filmore and Nancy (Bentley) Addington; leaving, 2 sisters, Cora Dierks, Visalia, Calf; Matilda Liautza, Clintwood, Va; one brother, Calvin Addington, Armathwaite, TN; md: John RENALDS, (Reynolds) Jul 16 1908, he was a prohibition officer and was killed while making a raid of moonshiners near Paintsville, Ky on Aug 20 1921; no children. Member of the Old Regular Baptist Church.


One article from the Louisville Courier in 1901 when John Harvey Reynolds was 21 years of age (he had been involved in a constant battle for quite some time with William S Luntz and it came to a head as described in Noah Reynolds journal of the "History of Feuds".) The journalist from the Louisville Courier Journal described John Reynolds this way: He is unusually handsome, talks splendidly, and like Morgan Reynolds, John Reynolds was a school teacher.
