Obituary Appalachian News Express 29 Sep 1998 James Burke
James Grover Burke, 81, of Piketon, Ohio, formerly of the Virgie area died Monday, July 27, 1998, at the Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born Jan. 11, 1917, a son of the late Alex Hatton Burke and Eliza Roberts Burke. He was a graduate of Pikeville College, a World War II Army veteran, a member of Piketon American Legion Post 0612 and a member of the Piketon Calvary Baptist Church. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Roger Lee Burke. He is survived by his his wife Bonnie M. Johnson; two sons, Oliver Wendell Burke of Gregory, Mich., and Robert F. Burke of New Vienna, Ohio; two daughters, Kathy (Mrs. Tony) Fielder of Waverly, Ohio, and Donna (Mrs. David) McCann of Piketon; two brothers K. S. Burke of Madison, Ind., Abel Burke of Henderson; one sister, Mrs Vonnie Mullins of Dorton; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at the Long Fork Old Regular Baptist Church with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating, and burial following in the Amil Little Cemetery at Long Fork of Virgie. Arrangements are under direction of R. S. Jones & Son Funeral Home of Virgie
