Her name was also written as "Seatte".
She was just a child when the Civil War began. Ceatta married Soloman when she
just 15 years old. She related the story of how her father and brother were
taken captive by Northern Soldiers to her grandson Lawrence Cook; Her father
Alfred Hall and brother Lewis had just signed up for duty serving the
Confederate Army. Early one morning before the men had a chance to leave for
service a band of Northern Soldiers entered their home and captured her father
and brother. She said this was the last time she saw her father because he died
in a Yankee prison camp. Ceatta had been taught well in the ways of country healing. She made cough
medicine and other healing drugs from herbs. She was a good cook and wife to
three husbands. All three of her husbands had served in the Civil War.
