Amanda Hall, age 89, of Greenwood, Indiana, formerly of Letcher County, Kentucky, passed away Thursday May 11, 2006, at Johnson County Memorial Hospital, Greenwood, Indiana. She was born at Speight, Kentucky, and lived most of her life in Letcher County.
She was a mother and a homemaker and had worked as an administrative assistant at the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital, Whitesburg, Kentucky. Amanda was a member of the Church of Christ and was also an Honorary Kentucky Colonel.
She was a daughter of the late L.D. Johnson and Elizabeth (Collier) Johnson, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Basil Hall; a brother; and five sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Harlene Ferrand, Greenwood, Indiana; a grandson, Andy Ferrand, Indianapolis, Indiana; two great-granddaughters, Amanda Leigh Ferrand and Andrea Christina Ferrand, of Indianapolis, Indiana; and great-grandson, Adein Anthony Ferrand, also of Indianapolis, Indiana; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Obituary: Basil Hall 10 Aug 1912 - 2 Jan 1994
Basil Hall, son of the late Cooney and Minerva Hall was born at Deane, Kentucky on August 10, 1912. He passed from this life suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, January 2, 1994 making his stay here on earth 81 years, 4 months and 22 days.
Basil married Amanda Johnson at Whitaker, Kentucky on July 22, 1935.
Basil was a retired miner having worked for over 29 years in the coal fields. He has been a member of the U.M.W.A. for over 50 years. He has also been a Christian and member of the Hemphill Church of Christ for 41 years.
He is survived by his wife Amanda of Jackhorn, KY; daughter: Harlene Ferrand of Greenwood, lndiana; grandson: Anthony E. Ferrand of Indianapolis, lnd; great granddaughters: Amanda L. & Andrea C. Ferrand; sisters: Matilda Brown of Ft. Pierce Fla; Georiga Rose & Mildred Collier both of Wise, Va; brothers: Leonard Hall & Samp Hall Jr., both of Pekin, lnd; Robert E. Hall of Jackhorn, Ky; Urias Hall of Jackson, Ohio. Also surviving are a host of other relatives and friends.
He was loved and respected by everyone that knew him and his family will miss him and always love him.
Funeral Services for Basil Hall will be conducted at the Banks Funeral Home Fleming-Neon, Kentucky on Wednesday, January 5, 1994 at 11 :00 am.
Pallbearers: Relatives and Friends. Officiating Ministers: Robert E. Hall. Burial will follow in the Hemphill Cemetery Jackhorn, Kentucky. Arrangements handled by Banks Funeral Home Fleming-Neon, Kentucky.
